. >> jesse: dana, does this remind you of scott mcclellan?or bush and wrote the bad book and then he was a man without a party. is that going to be john bolton? >> dana: it's slightly different. scott mcclellan's book came out in the second term, so the reelection had already happened. second, scott mcclellan was quite a young man. bolton is 70 or 70 at the time when he took the job. in some ways he didn't need to worry about his future career prospects. i think bolton is basically a guy who said nobody has ever liked me in washington, and he doesn't care. so he's written this book. he's got a lot of questions that are going to come towards him. i'm not surprised -- i don't think the media is embracing him. they are taking this information and running with it but the democrats are not going to embrace them. they are furious, thinking you could have set all of this. instead you're asking everybody to pay $32.50 to get this information when if you think it was that bad you should've done it back in january. my last point is even if john bolton

and i still have great affection for scott mcclellan.ok was one bad for the president, and everyone gets to make a choice. it was really upsetting. i remember being called into the oval office though because the president had heard that i was upset about the book and the president had his glasses on the end of his nose and he looked at me and said to come i heard you are upset about this book. i said yes, sir, i am. i was all spun up and i said i'd like you to try to forgive him. i said can i throw him under the bus first? and he said no. this is not going to be important in two weeks. that's important work that we are doing here, and he zeroed in on something that was important for me to hear. i also heard that every president will have to deal with this. it will always be somebody that turns on you. you have to make as good of a decision as you possibly can and move forward. i don't think that there is a tension that's going to get a lot of attention, and in a couple of weeks that will be in the rearview mirror. >> ed: she wanted to th
