joining us now, leann caldwell, and nbc 4 washington investigative reporter, scott mcfarland. this report, as you know, it doesn't look at the root causes of the attack and doesn't use the word insurrection to refer to the attack, and what then -- what purpose does this report then serve? >> that's an excellent question, jeff. the committees that did this report, the republicans and democrats on the committees say it was to look at the intelligence and the security failures to the leadup and on the day of january 6th, and the intent of the report is to be very limited in scope. they didn't go into it thinking they were going to have some sort of comprehensive look. this was the purpose of the report and this is what we got. it was a very damning report as far as security is concerned. talks about how there was on the day of and even in the height of the violence on january 6th, there was just a lack of communication, a lack of direction from capitol police leadership. this is really a report about law enforcement to protect this capitol and the people inside of it. as you have

investigative reporter scott mcfarland joins us.w about this grandmother and the sentencing coming up this afternoon? >> reporter: this is a mild post of the january 6th prosecutions, our first sentencing happens at about 2:30 d.c. time. it's our first chance to read some tea leaves an anna morgan lloyd is a lower-level case and not accused of assaulting anyone. the defense said they will seek three years' probation and three years' supervision. anna morgan will have 40 days community service. where does the george go on this? does he meet in the middle and leaning toward the prosecutor's side or ms. morgan lloyd's side. it's our first indication whether the defendant will say she is sorry, say something about donald trump or say something about what happened january 6th. it will be interesting to hear. >> and tell us there is another case involving two rioters who were making court appearances today including oath keeping member young. >> first reported by pete williams. this is the second accused oath keeper to plead guilty. there

i want to the bring some investigative reporter scott mcfarland with our affiliate in washington. oup associated with the group called the three percenters charge with conspiracy. what do we know about them and back with their involvement on january 6th. craig, good morning, some of the 500 or so cases we read through, this one stands out not only was this group planning on challenging the election as early as november. this group is from california. according to the charging documents, they were planning to bring knives and bear spray and goggles but chose to drive so as to not to raise red flags at the airport. the phrase three perr percenter is a reference to revolutionary at the capitol and one got inside with a knife. the gentleman has not appeared in court. three percenters and oath keepers, far-right groups who conspired ahead of january 6th, the most serious charge. there's an oath keeper in court this afternoon, one of 16 charged, he's seeking his release from jail. we'll watch that closely to see if the judge sets him free. >> you know, that court appearance you that ment

joining us now, scott mcfarland, investigative reporter with nbc 4 in washington.the plea deal and as well as the continued fall out from the capitol police. >> stephanie, good morning. the second plea deal, paul hodgkin's, it was a lower-level case with lower-level charges and became hugely important because it's only the second plea deal and it's really a test case for other defendants to study to see where their cases might be headed. he was facing a charge of obstructing an official proceeding, unlawful entry. so are most of the defendants. and after the plea deal was announced, it was said during proceedings there's an expectation of one to two-year sentencing guideline in prison, few thousand dollars in fines to pay back the damages at the capitol but also no requirement for cooperation. that's an indication of what other defendants could face if they plead too. one other note from my reporting this morning, stephanie -- ten u.s. capitol police officers remain off the job with injuries sustained on january 6th. that's in addition to all of the officers who su
