. >> and i'm scott mcgrew. just into our newsroom, crews have capped a gas leak that forced dozens of people to evacuate near virginia and hacienda, a few blocks away from winchester boulevard. this is a pretty big gas line that was leaking. >> reporter: yes, it was about a 4-inch gas line. the good news is, the mainline has been capped and everyone has been told they can go back home. we have video earlier from our chopper. this is hacienda in gamble not far from winchester, as you mentioned. workers hit that gas main when they were at a construction site. the gas main is here on hacienda avenue allowing the natural gas to escape. police were called in to go to nearby homes and apartments on areas around here, virginia avenue, walnut drive, hacienda to tell people that because of the leak of natural gas, they may want to leave. we were told about 80 homes ultimately were evacuated this morning. all of those people were sent to the campbell community center. the good news is now, the leak has been capped. no da

"today in the bay's" stephanie chuang live at the church street station. stephanie, good news, muni is giving an all clear on this. >> reporter: exactly, good morning, scott. different picture from the last time we checked in here at church street station. it was packed with about 50, 60 frustrated riders. now as you mentioned that trains back in service as of about 156 minutes ago. everything returning to normal schedule. power has been restored. but for most of the 5:00 hour this morning, you had the training stopping here. inbound where people had to walk up to catch shuttle buses to the embarcadero station. a lot of these lanes converged. ultimately causing the outage. now again, good news, it's over now, but the problem already pushed some people behind this friday morning, including people we spoke with whose work

. >> and i'm scott mcgrew. breaking news in san francisco. rescue crews scouring the shores for a man that jumped off a boat that ran aground. stephanie chuang is live at the sustain. you smell fuel, there's a spill as well? >> reporter: yeah. you can smell it more when you're closer to where the boat is submerged half way there. good morning to you scott and laura. we understand the coast guard got the call around 3:30 that a man on the small fishing call made a disstressed call saying that he was going to jump ship. two and a half hours later, still no sign of that man who apparently jumped his boat. firefighters responded with a rescue boat. the coast guard has a helicopter as well as a rescue boat searching for many man right now. you can see as josh zooms in closer where the boat is. there's a red flashing light, it is half submerged. to the left it's more difficult to see, it's a flashing white light. there's a beacon with a life raft. that was not there when firefighters first got here but they searched the boat as well as that life ra

i'm scott mcgrew. >> i'm kris sanchez. we're learning new details now about the boat that ran aground along san francisco's shoreline. as crews towed it out to water, the skipper's criminal history is coming to light. bob redell is live at ocean beach with the latest. good morning, bob. >> good morning, kris and scott. you can see her there behind me here on ocean beach, the paloma, 38-foot fishing vessel, still grounded here. a salvage crew was able to use that heavy machinery to drag her during high tide this morning, about 70 feet closer to shore. they'll try again to get it completely out of the water during the next high tide, scheduled for around 7:00 tonight. the turn being right now the diesel leaking from the boat's fuel tanks. >> the way the vessel is laying right now, we access the starboard tanks and determined there was no more fuel left onboard in the starboard tank. we'll access the port tank most likely tomorrow morning. >> reporter: the san francisco district attorney's office is still looking for the boat
