scott mclean is live in london with more. what are you seeing and hearing from people? the line. for the people who are joining right here, they might have a 14 hour wait. that is the official estimate. they have to walk at least five miles. and so we're in a park right now in southeast london, about five miles from westminster hall where the queen's body is lying in state. and you can see that they have these barriers set up so that the line will snake around several times throughout this park. and if you look over this direction, it goes on for quite a ways. it is just a sea of humanity. and then once you get to the end of this, park, you go towards te thames and then from there, that is when you have just under five miles to go and probably about 10, 12 hours until you might actually get to the front of the line. so it is an absolutely mammoth line. but everyone in it that we've spoken to says that it is well worth it. but you can imagine the logistical challenge of something like this and this many people. first responders for instance, paramedics, at last count res

scott mclean is live in london. what can you tell us about britain's new leader?man to serve as british prime minister. she ran as a traditional conservative, low taxes, small government, it kind of thing that clearly resonated with conservative party members, the people who actually did the voting, a group i should mention that represented less than one half of 1% of the british electorate. if you ask her critics, they will question whether she holds any genuine beliefs at all considering how often she has changed hers. she started off as a member of the more centrist liberal democratic party before switched to the conservatives. she voted to remain inside the european union. she's now a staunch brexitees. tomorrow, she may well be kissing the hand of the monarch, queen elizabeth, who will formally ask her from her castle in scotland to form her next government. at the moment, liz truss is still britain's top diplomat. she's not always so diplomatic. just recently, she said the jury was still out on whether france was a friend or foe of britain. of course, france

. >> let's bring in cnn's scott mclean outside windsor castle.s the british public you have been encountering feeling. >> i think that the thought of king charles is finally starting to sink in amongst people, although they are under no illusions about just how big the shoes are that he's trying to fill. he also brings his chair of challenges as well. he's not as popular as his mother was, not as popular as his son, prince williamering either, and he brings to the role some baggage. everything that happened with princess diana, there fact he's been more politically outspoken than his mother and more recent controversies like the one this sum. he accepted a million dollar pound donation from the family of osama bin laden. if you ask people here, they're willing to put all that in the past and say charles will be a good king if you give him time. here's some of the things that i heard from people. >> i would rather the queen was still alive, but other than that, i think he'll make a very good king. >> charles, i would have preferred william, actual
