cnn's scott mclean joins us from london. what more do we know overnight?we're trying to figure out precisely the extent that israeli ground truoops are insie of gaza at this stage. israel says there are 450 strikes on what it calls terror targets, in the past day. it also says that israeli ground troops are now helping to direct some of those strikes. we also know from a journalist in central gaza that he said that the artillery strikes yesterday were, in his words, did not stop. he also said that there was gunfire heard in the eastern part of gaza near that perimeter wall, and many of the people showing up at the hospital don't have injuries from air strikes, but from artillery strikes instead. obviously, none of this is helping the humanitarian situation. we have video that was shot yesterday by the afp, showing people in gaza, desperate people, obviously, ransacking a u.n. warehouse and carrying out whatever food supplies they can. it looks like bags of rice, from what we can tell, from the video. but the israeli leadership is still sort of framing all

cnn's scott mclean is in london with the latest. what are you learning about the attack and the apprehension of the suspect? >> reporter: it is remarkable now we're talking about more than 12 hours since this shooting actually took place where this apprehension of the shooting of the potential suspect again identity yet to be verified is taking place and it's all happening in a very small radius. we're talking about where the shooting took place and the arrest was made maybe five, six, seven kilometers or so. this all happened last night about an hour and a half or so before the international football soccer match between sweden and belgium was set to take place in brussels. so this was well before the match, the first half of the match going underway as if nothing had happened, but then the match was suspended at halftime clearly when authorities realized that this attack may have been motivated by the fact that these two victims who were killed were supporters of the swedish side. obviously there were a lot of swedes in brussels w

cnn's scott mclean is following all of these developments for us from london. ott, let's start with this news we're wearing about aid trucks at the rafah border crossing. what more do you know? >> reporter: so the latest that we have from the border is that there are no movements at the moment of any trucks actually crossing the border, but as you said, the information that we have is from the egyptian red crescent which says that 17 trucks carrying food and other types of aid are on the border on stand by to cross when and if they get the red light. we have seen for days and days now aid piling up in egypt, ready to cross into gaza, but the forces that be that control that border have only let a limited amount actually in. so there is a lot more than just those 17 trucks which could in theory go into gaza if they were given the green light. we saw 20 trucks entering yesterday but the palestinians say that, look, that is a drop in the bucket compared to what they need. they say that normally 500 trucks cross the border every single day to supply the essentials t

scott mclean's following developments, and joins me in london. scott, what evidence do we have about the strikes in the vicinity were on the hospital, and the israelis justification for doing so? >> not on the hospital, bianca, but the palestinian red crescent says very near to the hospital. some of the video you showed just there shows the aftermath. smoke billowing through the hallway, as well, they say there has been damage from the strikes, very nearby. this hospital, yesterday, said it got two phone calls from israel, warning them to evacuate. this is something that israel has been doing since the outset of the conflict him almost, telling people in the northern part of gaza to move south which includes hospitals and healthcare centers, many of which were pushed back, saying they simply cannot. but, the situation in the hospital more broadly is just one of gaza's problems but you saw there the looting of ate houses, the world food program says it is evidence of how desperate people have become, and how people are growing more and more hungry,

cnn's scott mclean is following these developments. ott, is the aid making it into the gaza strip right now enough to meet the needs of the population there? >> reporter: palestinians will tell you, wolf, it's a drop in the bucket compared to what is actually needed. i should tell you as well that those 15 trucks that entered the border crossing earlier were caught up for most of the day in border checks, authorities demanding more on what they were car carrying. we understand that those trucks are now preparing to move into gaza itself if they haven't moved already. none of those trucks, though, are actually carrying fuel. there were some images we saw earlier of fuel trucks around the border area. the u.n. says they were simply taking fuel from a depot inside gaza to distribute to hospitals. they also say that fume will be gone in a matter of days. most of the health care facilities inside gaza have shut already. the ones that are remaining open are operating because of generators. they're having to rags. the main hospital in northern

let's go now to cnn's scott mclean for more on this. ott, you've been gathering informations from various sources. where do things stand now with the creation of a humanitarian zone, a safe zone, if you will? >> reporter: this is an idea at this stage that has been floated by israel, but there are no indications at this point that it's something that's going to happen immediately. we've asked the u.n. about t which could not confirm whether it's even in discussions with the israelis about anything like this. the u.n. says that it's priority at this stage is simply getting any kind of aid into gaza at all, period. obviously potentially a glimmer of hope now that some may be coming in given that six fuel trucks have now crossed the rafah border crossing, this will be music to the ears of these aid groups like the u.n. which have been shouting as loud as they can to anyone who will listen in the outside world about just how dire this situation is inside of gaza. the world food program, for instance, kate, says that is correct look, it's run

. >> joining us now is cnn's scott mclean, we've been trying to make sense of the military movementsza, it's so difficult to figure out, isn't it? but there have been attacks below the line in which the israelis were evacuating people? >> yes, let's take a quick look at the map. basically, israel has said basically the top third of the gaza strip should be evacuated, about 1.1 million people they've told to move south. and the difficulty, though, is that the air strikes that we saw over the weekend, idf said there were 250 of them yesterday alone on military targets they say. they say that most of them were in the northern part of the gaza strip, but some of them were also south. remember, these are places that people evacuated to. and we've got video in from a place from a central part of gaza, there there were at least two air strikes over the weekend. there was horrifying video the aftermath, people scrambling what to do, and obviously, children as well. even this morning, we don't have video of this, there is another air strike in khan yunis which is even farther south, where a d
