february 7, 2016. >> reporter: scott reiss, ktvu channel 2 news. >>> for the first time in decade oil workers are going on strike, including the refinery in martinez. they called for the strike and they are already picketing in texas, washington and kentucky. 9 refineries are effected. it has been 35 years since they went on strike. they said they are concerned about worker safety, under staffing and fatigue. they decided to walk off the job after reject ag4th contract offer over the weekend -- rejecting a 4th contract over the weekend. . >> willing to talk beyond the midnight deadline and industry was unwilling and left no option. >> workers plan to picket on thursday after the plant shut down. during the strike they will continue to take in crude oil and ship out what has already been refined. gas prices could go up if the strike drags on. >>> people who share their homes through rental services are rushing to register with the city and county of san francisco. a new law just went into effect yesterday requires residents to prove they have liability insurance. ktvu's david stevenson
