sanchez was the first reporter out there. she joins us with more information on the search efforts that are going on right now. kris? >> reporter: good morning, laura and scott. we are way closer to the main jail than we were yesterday. yesterday the perimeter extended all the way around the jail. we were kept at bay as well. now we know those two escaped inmates managed to make it out, so there were more than 40 officers searching for them on foot with dogs, with the helicopter overhead, the light streaming down, and they did that until about 9:30 yesterday morning. that's when they lifted the perimeter because deputies discovered surveillance video put the two outside this area. investigators say that now the search area is all of santa clara county. they tied clothing and sheets and repelled down to the ground. two other inmates who were with them, who made the escape at the same time, they were caught as the deputy was on routine patrol outside the jail. now more than 24 hours after rogelio chavez of san jose and laron campbell of palo alto escaped, they are still on the run. >> the fact that these bars were cut the way they were, it wasn't something the
