kris sanchez joins us to explain how that action allows more families to stay put. >> it would be a terrible time to have to try and move. you heard about scottcgrew talking about home sales, and imagine trying to find a new apartment at this point. san jose families will get more breathing room even if they can't afford to pay their rent right now. san jose is banning evictions htow.gh may 31st, and you will the city council is also voting on a rent freeze that could keep landlords from raising rent for the rest of the year, and it would affect 49,000 apartments and mobile homes but not single home rentals or newer apartments, and it would go beyond state protections that remain in effect. and other areas have eviction moratoriums, and some are extending protections to commercial renters, and banning for paying back rent. there was talk i just freezing and making rent free for the next three months for people affected by the coronavirus, and that's not going to happen because the city can't take on what they consider to be a liability, and it could be a constitutional issue and issues from landlords as well. more coming up at 6:00. >> thank
