scott. senator scott, good to have you on the program. you know,, i think it's important, right, to be aware of this, to be cautious, to be careful. but nonetheless, not to let it reach a level of hysteria which the media in some ways seems to be encouraging. how do you think about this right now? >> first off, it shouldn't be political. the dem9 just hate -- dems just hate president trump, and they're going to try to make him look bad. they're working hard. the vice president did a press conference today, they're trying to get out information. i think they ought to be doing a press conference every day. there's more things they could do every day. i dealt with this as governor. whether it's hurricanes or the zika crisis, you need to have a 24/7 hotline just for this issue, so i hope the cdc does that. the biggest issue i'm dealing with in florida is we've got a lot of airport travelers, so how are we going to keep all of our flyers with safe. look, the trump administration, they're putting out information. i get briefings pretty much every day. and they're trying to make sure the public is informed. but the bottom line is, you know, prepare people for the worst and always hope for the best and usually things work out, and i hope in this case -- it's horrible the 11 people we've lost already, but i hope we don't lose any more. trish: yeah. there's, like, a run on hand sanitizer everywhere right now, including on amazon. i think in some cases you can see a 5-ounce bottle of purehl going for $100. a pack of 12, $279. i mean, this is nuts! this is really nuts. and, again, we all need to encourage good hygiene, but, you know, it's reaching a level of he iser the ya which i think -- hysteria which i think is dangerous in its own ways. senator, i want to turn to another topic, because i want to get your thoughts on what i would say is a rather horrifying story, a disgusting attempt by the left to threaten our supreme court justices. here is senator chuck schumer today. watch. >> i want to tell you, gorsuch, i want to tell you, kavanaugh, you have released the whirlwind, and you will pay the price! [cheers and applause] you won't know what hit you if you go forward with these awful decisions. trish: this is because the supreme court's taking up an abortion case. and, you know, it's a pretty direct threat to them. chief justice roberts actually issuing a scathing reply to schumer's rant tonight, and this is very rare as you know, sir. saying, quote: justices know that criticism comes with the territory, but threatening statements of this sort from the highest levels of government are not only inappropriate, they are dangerous. all members of the court will continue to do their job without fear or favor from whatever quarter. the violent language is really out in full force, sir, from the left. what is your reaction to it tonight, senator? >> well, you don't have -- i don't have high expectations for chuck schumer, but threatening a supreme court justice is a pretty big, pretty low. i mean, look, i think it's as simple as this, he's worried about a primary challenge from aoc, and so he's trying to reach that base. i think there's a lot of other ways that he could reach the fringe left rather than attack a supreme court justice. it was wrong, it was a low. i think everybody in this country is disappointed in chuck schumer right now. trish: do the justices deserve an apology from him? >> absolutely. will he apologize? no way. trish: he's doubling down right now. he came back with a statement against, against roberts because, you know, he's angry. >> everything he does, everything he does is politics. i mean, he's not about let's do good policy, let's worry about our country. it's how can he attack trump, you know, the supreme court justices, republicans. that's all he does all day long. he wants to be, he wants to be the majority leader so bad in the senate, he will do anything. i mean, he spent $65 million in my race in 2018, had a super pac to try to beat me. he'll do anything to try to become majority leader. trish: it's disappointing because, you know, we kind of hold you all up on a pedestal, you know? regardless of party, you're senators. and, you know, you, you're an important part, the fabric of our country. and to see one of them treat our supreme court justices like that, you know, people who certainly should be above reproach and shouldn't be threatened in that way, he's willing -- it seems, senator -- to take a dangerous turn. >> right. but you know what? the democrats have all become socialists. and if they can't get it through the ballot box, they'll do it through the court system, they'll intimidate people, they'll do whatever they want. they've all become all -- you kk about it, we can all say, oh, bernie sanders is a socialist. no, he's the one that's at least admitting it. they've all become socialists. and biden will be just as dangerous as bernie sanders is crazy. trish: i have a feeling you're quite right. in fact, that's actually one of my next segments coming up.
