scott shafer has that interview. >> attorney general thank you so much for joining us. >> thank you, ott. >> you're going to be filing a lawsuit probably next week against the trump administration for phasing out daca. can you tell me what is the basis for this lawsuit going to be? >> well, every one of us in is this country has grown acu accustomed to talking about our constitutional rights whether making sure that the federal statutes that apply to everyone are enforced in the same way. we believe and we believe we have a strong case to make, that those laws, those constitutional protections have not been enforced in an equal way in a due process way, and certainly in violation of the procedures under the federal statutes. >> now of course new york and 14 states in h the district of columbia filed a lawsuit earlier this week. will the legal basis for california's lawsuit be different? >> very similar. they'll be some differences but similar. we've been working with those 16 attorneys general. we're working with several other ag's as well. we're working with some of our partners here

scott shafer spoke earlier with the filmmakers. >> ken burns and lynn knowvic, welcome to "kqed newsroom." congratulations on completing this epic documentary. it's been more than 40 years now since saigon fell, the war ended. ken, why now? what's important about what happened back then to tell today in 2017? >> you know, very simply we've now got the distance, the perspective that allows us to understand more clearly what had taken place, the passions have not cooled down. but you're able to, with new scholarship, with aging of the veteran population, with the aging also of the protest population, an opportunity to revisit this really, really difficult period. >> lynn, i think you've said -- i read that the vietnam war has been poorly understood. what do you mean by that, and what are you hoping to clarify? >> there's a lot happening in different places at the same time, and it took a long time for us to even understand how to tackle it. we went back to the beginning, which you have to go back to the 19th century to understand colonialism, world war ii, the cold war. political dynamics

scott shafer takes it from here. >> joining me now are san francisco chronicle sports writer ann killian and sports reporter kevin lynch. well, this is an issue that americans are paying very close attention to. there was an espn poll that showed it kind of split down the middle more or less. what is it, ann, about this issue that strikes such a chord in people, do you think? >> well, i think it goes to the fabric of our country, which is, you know, we like football. football is this american thing. we've got the flag, the anthem, football players representativing -- which they don't really represent communities. they really represent corporations, branches of this big corporation called the nfl. but, you know, it goes back to some of the things of our childhood, what it means. and i think right now for a lot of people who do support this, they see this as an opportunity for these guys who have a huge spotlight to use it. and why not? but then, you know, there's in enormous backlash too. >> kevin, of course we saw this in some ways begin with colin kaepernick although there were other th
