she is part of that young talent and i get to work with, as well as scott wiener.rd of supervisors have been working with me these past seven months, and we are trying to get a lot of things delivered. not a lot of political stance. getting stuff done. fulfiling old promises. promises that you heard decades ago. you saw me smiling this morning as i embraced this man, freddie carter. he is part of the construction team here. freddie was certified when i was the director of the human rights commission. he had a joint venture. it was a small firm, and they had to get some beer projects, and i remember, you went out and bought yourself a red truck. do you still have that truck? freddie is part of the kck general contractors team that formed the property bid on the dpw and library bid process. they ultimately won the right to build this. and guess what, he is local, right here in the bayview. that is important to me, personally, it is important to the city. that is why the library director works so hard with dpw, our human rights commission, to do it right. this is the

i am joined by a supervisor elsbernd and scott wiener in place of supervisor farrell. the court today is miss wong. we like to thank jennifer lowe and mark bunch. >> of the items on the agenda recommended go the full board unless otherwise indicated. item #1, ordnance amending the as minister of code to establish the commission for power, purpose, and duty to establish membership criteria. supervisor kim: the author of the legislation is here today. supervisor wiener: today, will be considering legislation to help san and cisco react to and plan for the future of criminal justice in this state, specifically around realignment. a lot of folks will see a reduction in state prison populations. that will be accomplished partly by shifting prisoners to county jail. in the future, there will be sentences that in the past would have sent prisoners to state prison who instead will go to county jail. this will alleviate the state prison overcrowding. it also has the potential benefit, particularly in a place like san francisco, where we really have a focus on rehabilitation and

is the right here with supervisors got leaner -- supervisor scott wiener. why should we vote for proposition b? supervisor wiener: this is a bond that will address some of our basic and critical infrastructure needs it. we've seen this across the country for the last few decades a bank it will help with quality of life. it will help put people back to work. it addresses the infrastructure funds for our roads. to resurface our roads. basic maintenance. it also provide significant funding for work on our city bridges and overpasses and other infrastructure that is deteriorating and needs capital work, and also provides for eda acceptability. >> opponents of this measure have argued that these bonds should not be used for what they perceive as ongoing maintenance of our streets. -- what they perceive as ongoing maintenance of our streets. how do you respond to those accusations? supervisor wiener: we should have been doing a better job the last 30 years maintaining our streets. i will not argue that. the fact is, we are where we are today. we have almost $500

"i am not in town while we do -- while we are in recess, but i am here in spirit. the sooner that we recognize in a brace the fact that night life is key to the city, policy makers to often viewed this as challenges to deal with, focusing on violence, drunken behavior, and the like. it is one of the things that makes san francisco unique and defines us. without these unique abilities to enjoy ourselves, it would not be san francisco. understanding and embracing this has been a priority for me as a member of the board of supervisors. engaging in the study of the economic impact as an entertainment and lite light industry, this study, which i anticipate will be completed later this year, will be providing a key policy tool. no longer will we be unduly focused on the negative. instead we will see the negative and the positive. i look

scott wiener introduced the legislation in september.would man naked people from restaurants and require that towels be placed on towels and benches before nudists sit down. $100 fine for the first offense, $200 for the second. a third offense $1,000 and possibly a year up -- and possibly a year in jail. >>> coming up next -- the michael jackson trial that could turn the whole trial upside down. >>> welcome back. we're gonna check traffic with sal. >> getting to the bridge in oakland is pretty slow if you are driving into san francisco. a lot of people are also going to downtown oakland. so all right take a look at the entire east bay, starting with oakland. 880 northbound. you will see slow traffic all the way up to the toll plaza. once you get to the toll plaza, there is a pretty big delay. it's improving a little bit as we get into this later 8:00 hour. no problems on the bridge. highway 4 antioch, stop and go. it's imprommed a little bit in -- improved a little bit in pittsburg but slow traffic after a minor crash on treat boulevard.
