want to thank mayor lee and his staff but also my colleagues on the board including supervisor scott wiener, david chiu, carmen chu, christina olague, john avalos, jane kim, and malia cohen for cosponsoring the legislation. i am grateful for the work of debbie city attorney jane alexander and from the treasurer tax collector's office for helping us draft this ordinance and finally to treasurer jose cisneros for his incredible work as well. and pta's and pto's hold events to raise supplemental revenue. the san francisco business and tax regulations code requires these events be taxed at a rate of 25%. this creates a burden on the volunteer grassroots organization who are staging events for the sole benefit of san francisco schools. and by amending the role in allows volunteer parent organizations to reap the full benefit of their efforts in the schools to better meet the needs of their students. i urge your support and thank all those involved. supervisor kim: thank you. i wanted to thank supervisor mar and their office. it is important that we helped our families and pt's that are of workin

on behalf of my colleagues, i would like to express my gratitude to supervisors scott wiener, the san francisco board of supervisors, the san francisco human rights commission, and the department of public health for reaching this consensus and approving this resolution. we have been working on this together for two years and i want to thank you in the other city agencies for working with us. the removal of the exclusion of medically necessary transition related care from healthy san francisco will constitute the ending of a longstanding barrier to the health and well- being of many transgendered san franciscans. exclusions' like this one have been one of the many ways in which transgendered women and men have been pushed to the margins of society and forced to live in desperation. denied the equal treatment we all hold precious. pervasive employment discrimination and the resulting lack of health insurance coverage has driven many transgendered san franciscans to seek needed medical care from healthy san francisco. with the passage of this resolution, hopefully in the near future, it

supervisor scott wiener. supervisor malia cohen, supervisor carmen chu. and the other members for their support in making public safety a priority. the president is here somewhere. and the rest of the police commission. this is just a tremendous day for san francisco. we have made tremendous inroads in impacting violent crime over the last few years. it is because of our staffing and the community support to do it through the community policing in the engagement of young people. this will allow us to keep doing that. we're going to lose close to 300 officers with the sunset of drop, and maybe another 100 officers before the summer of 2015. this will dramatically impact that. what the academy is is 29 weeks for entry level officers. eight weeks for lateral transfers. that includes a one-week fire arm training, one-week vehicle operation steny, one-week of officers of rival, and then continued use of force and physical training throughout. -- one-week vehicle operation training, one week of officer survival. and community policing. the mayor mentioned gary.

this is assuming the amendment that passes that was brought forward by supervisor scott wiener. i support that. i would also like to hear the rationale about september. i have not seen the data. i know there are several municipalities that have a september primary, and it would be interesting to say how the turnout is for those municipalities. i will probably support one of these amendments to the charter, but i think over the next few weeks, i would like to spend time talking to a lot of groups that are engaged around election and of course increasing civic engagement and to get their perspective on how they feel about this step process for the mayor's race. supervisor elsbernd: supervisor campos?
