i want to recognize scott wiener and david is working along broadway and trying to create the newest and freshest districts there. we call it the entertainment district. but getting the businesses up there a little bit better organized so they can welcome the foot traffic and the be automobiles. this is happening all over the districts. it's happening in the valley and others. we have a number of representatives here dan weaver. every time there are those cb ds that are created tre's instant on, on going improvements. those improvements are readily felt with our police department as well. when i have people actively engaged in people with the streets people are a lot more conscious and they're looking at out and supporting this project. people are relynn themselves with the neighborhood. this makes our city great. i'm here to thank the people and most importantly it is the move that the local merchants have and they want the city to invest in their neighborhoods. it's a plea for success. who won't want to be here. it's better than the east coast right now. as we showed off pebble bea

it's my pleasure to be here to join former mayor willie brown, and supervisor scott wiener and davidampos, and the commission of the police department, and friends and staff and friends and family here to witness the promotion of 56 officers of our police department. you know many of you have heard me say in the city that we are the world passage, and rightly so. we are doing things that no other city is doing to lead the way. not just for economic recovery but job creation. showing the way. and our mission bay and biotech, the latest discovers and drugs, the cure of cancer with residents of san francisco working there. we host the biggest and best conventions in the world to bring people together in this great city to do things that collaborate with each other. whether it's business or medicine or research. we have some of the best research and diversity here that are anchoring the discovery. at the same time we host some of the best sports teams in the world. and you know that we are winning the world series and collaborative teamwork that we are doing. or trying to make five more

president chiu >> good morning it is great to be here in the sun and with you're very efficient scott wiener. i want to thank the mayor and i have to tell you in the very first year i was exposed to how for this is. i was asked to triple the size of this one district in my first term in union square. supervisor wiener said it's very important that he tripled the size of his districts. but in my districts i have the motorbike man's wharf and we've got make sure that our wharf is safe. i'm happy to announce we're talking about a new you community benefit i'll be proposing along broadway but there have been some serious knsz around pope street and whether the financial districts having should consider a cd v. when you have the private partnership and you have people working with our city police department it's important that all of us who are working it to make sure that san francisco has the most gem of neighborhoods for the entire word we're trying to chief that >> thank you for helping us. thank you very much >> thank you supervisor. and we know it's comfortable without our community leaders

(applause) >> in addition to her duties of vice dean being the head of ucsf san francisco general, dr. carlysle has been a leader in the rebuilding of san francisco general hospital. as we all know, one of the most important projects in our city's recent history. and she's been a leader in elevating status of women at both ucsf and sf general. dr. carlysle has come a long way from louisiana town, small town in which she was born. she has a very, very impressive educational resume. masters in science, ph.d. in para cytology of tulane university, post doctorate work at rice university, medical degree from the university of pennsylvania in my hometown philadelphia, resident in medicine and fellowship in critical care in anesthesia from ucsf. she joined the ucsf
