chief meteorologist scott williams here now with what to expect. scott? >> that's right, iain. we've seen a few light sprinkles and showers during the afternoon but most of the coverage right now well to the north and west. as we move toward the lehigh valley as well as the pocono mountains. this is not the main system. the main system it's still off to the west. it's a cold front right now that's producing severe weather through sections of ohio river valley. so this energy will continue to head in our direction and we're talking some showers, even some thunderstorm activity. as we roll the clock, pretty quiet for the din are in hour. watch what happens after about nine, 10:00 o'clock we're watching a line much showers imbedded thunderstorms move toward our area. here's midnight. you can see pretty good coverage north and west of philadelphia. then as we move toward day break, that system it's pulling out of here but not before leaving some rain as well as some gusty winds. so once again the heaviest not arriving really until after 9:00 o'clock west. a few thunderstorms imbedd

let's get over to chief meteorologist scott williams who is tracking it all for us. scott?> hi, dawn and iain. i think we will salvage a part of the upcoming weekend but take a look at all of the rainfall moving in. toward the middle west the ohio river valley this rain is moving due east right toward our area. right now, we have cloud cover, cooler than average temperatures and pockets of light showers across the area. it's really hit or miss right now but if you're stepping outdoors for friday evening plans grab the umbrella and rain gear because we are going to be dodging some of those light showers. timing everything. you can see as we roll the clock by 8:00 p.m. we're still looking at pockets of drizzle and showers some of the heavier rainfall south jersey and delaware. look at what happens overnight. saturday 3:00 a.m. we're looking at that rainfall really starting to spread in and overtake the area and temperatures will be dropping, too. right now it's 60 degrees in the philadelphia area. the sun will set this evening at 6:29. so if you're stepping outdoors, it's goi

let's get straight to chief meteorologist scott williams. >>> yeah, that's right lucy and iain. we're looking at ultimate doppler tracking very moderate to heavy rainfall right now around lancaster, moving into chester county. you can see around london grove, get ready around west chester, eventually moving toward odessa as we move into new castle county as well as smyrna. where you see the orange as well as the red indicating that moderate rain. this system is moving very slowly to the east but right now most of the activity has been moving from south to north and you can see it continues to move toward our area. off to the west we have flood advisers for ponding on the roadways, heavy rain over 22 to 3-inches in sections of lancaster county. as we watch the timing, the heavy rain continues to move in. slowly from the west and you can see by 7:00 o'clock pockets of downpours across the area. really continuing through this evening, and that end overnight first thing tomorrow morning at 4:00 a.m. we're looking at downpours, too. much more on this timing coming up. iain and lucy.

chief meteorologist scott williams is back with a very busy radar, scott. >> that's right, iain. few isolated thunderstorms not out of the question as we look at ultimate doppler right now, you can see some lightning showing up with this cluster of showers moving out of the maryland area. it will eventually move toward dover. as well as odessa moving into northern sections of new castle county. so watching this line of showers and once again some imbedded thunderstorm activity. but where you see the red, where you see the orange that is very heavily rainfall moving out of maryland. we're getting a dry break along the i-9the i-95 corridor once ye into upper montgomery and bucks county moderate showers toward lehigh valley right now. around allentown. socked in with the clouds and moisture at the airport. airport delays because of the low ceilings, the showers and thunderstorms. up and down the east coast so just be mindful of that. the system is moving very slowly to the east. but most of the activity right now is moving from south to north. we'll continue to monitor the situation

after the warmth, well, comes the rain and chief meteorologist scott williams here when i took my boys to school 8:30 it was about 70 degrees this morning. >> temperatures, iain, warmed up rapidly. so far the high temperature today has been 79 degrees. the normal this time of year is 67. it's pretty windy as well. take live look right now at the philadelphia international airport. you can see winds are gusting to 23 miles per hour. but the wind direction is making the difference today out of the south and you can see those temperatures currently still in the mid to upper 70s. 77 degrees right now in reading we're looking at 75 in trenton. 75 in millville as well and take a look at temperatures up and down the east coast. it's 81 degrees in savannah 82 right now in orlando. out ahead of that system temperatures well above average. for tonight, unseasonably mild. patchy fog the low tonight in philadelphia 67 degrees. in the suburbs 64 typical high temperatures for this time of year. but on ultimate doppler you can see showers and storms off to the west coming up the timing of that system

let's get straight to chief meteorologist scott williams. a lost stuff going on, scott. >>> that's right. lucy and iain. we're lock in this pattern this evening as well as most of the day tomorrow unfortunately. take a look at the scenario satellite and radar show this area of low pressure. this nor'easter right now winds coming out of the north and east but you can see the rainfall it has been pinwheeling around this low. but look around the immediate area of low pressure. we're talking about some convection showers even thunderstorms most of that will stay offshore for us right now as we zoom in a little closer, we're looking at some of those pockets of rainfall. so wet roadways out there. a wet and slow evening commute as well. around salem smyrna down to dover looking at some of that rainfall but look at the temperatures only in the mid 50s remember yesterday the high was 70 degrees. not so much today. look at the winds gusting over 20 miles per hour right now in philadelphia. airport delays across the region as well. so pack some patienc

let's get right over to chief meteorologist scott williams. pretty tough situation there, scott. >> it really is. we're talking life threatening storm surge over 10 feet for the island of bermuda, dawn. right now as we take a look at hurricane gonzalo you can see that eye is about 50 miles to the south southwest of bermuda. highlighted here by that red arrow. this is the first major hurricane to impact bermuda since fabian back in 2003. so hurricane warnings are up and conditions have been going downhill taking a look at the bermuda web cam throughout the day today. wind swept rain, tropical downpour and take a look at the wind forecast you can see hurricane force sustained winds over 74 miles per hour will impact directly the entire island of we are mood today. maximum sustained winds at 115 miles an hour moving to the knot north northeast at 16 miles an hour. about half a foot of rainfall is expected there. quiet and comfortable conditions for us right now. temperatures in the low 70 70s. for tonight. comfortable. temperatures in the secretar
