let's go right to chief meteorologist scott williams. scott, why so warm, man? >> come on. >> blame el nino. we've been talking about this record-breaking warmth all week long. temperatures today look at this, atlantic city 65 degrees. 1 degree away from the record. wilmington 62. we made it to 61 in philadelphia. 60 degrees in trenton. we saw a few more clouds across the area. so we would have been a little warmer, but you can see most of the the clouds kind of shifting on out of here but a live look outside of our studios right now. 59 degrees. that's the current temperature still. it definitely doesn't feel like middle part of december. take a look at those winds out of the south southwest at about 6 miles per hour. the normal high by the way is only 46 degrees for this time of year. so if you're stepping outdoors we'll keep some clouds around it will stay kind of mild. temperatures will slowly fall to around 55 degrees by 9:00 o'clock, and then by 11:00 o'clock, grab a light jacket or a sweater. but get ready for record-breaking temperatures this weekend. al

chief meteorologist scott williams is getting an early start. he's live outside our old city studios. scott? >> hi there, dawn. yeah, not a bad friday across the area. folks are out and about here in old city. i'll step out of the way you can see you will need that jacket if you're stepping outdoors. but otherwise, it's going to be dry and quiet. not only for tonight but for the weekend with high pressure in control. let's talk about the temperatures right now if you're stepping outdoors. it's not really that bad. currently, 50 degrees. the high today 52. several degrees above the normal high for this time of year which by the way is 49 degrees. so as we look at the numbers, 47 degrees currently in atlantic city. we have mid 40s in reading. not that bad upper 30s right now in the pocono mountains. but grab a jacket by 7:00 o'clock mid 40s. clear skies by 9:00 o'clock. 42 degrees. it's going to be chilly overnight. look for temperatures into the upper 20s for the burbs. mid 30s in the city. and look at ultimate doppler. the dry, it is quiet. when

scott pelley. >> pelley: late today, the for calm in baltimore after the trial of officer william porter ended with a hung jury. porter is the first of six cops to be tried in the death of gray, who was severely injured while in police custody. gray's death in april led to riots in the streets. prosecutors today have not yet said whether they will try porter again. kris van cleave is in baltimore. >> reporter: baltimore sheriffs deputies took down a demonstrator outside the courthouse. it was a tense, but largely peaceful atmosphere after seven african american and five white jurors were unable to agree on any of the four charges against officer william porter, including second degree assault and involuntary manslaughter. demonstrator archie williams was outraged. what do you think this says about justice? >> i say it looks like ronald mcdonald. it's a real bad joke. >> reporter: freddie gray died from injuries suffered while riding in a police van. officer porter was present at porter did not buckle gray in, despite police department guidelines, and prosecutors alleged porter did not call for medi
