meteorologist scott williams here. ott, hermine may no longer be a hurricane but i tell you this is going to ruin a lot of weekend plans. >> yeah it really is. still tropical storm but could it actually intensify, chris, back to a hurricane right off of our coast. take look at the tropical storm warnings posted for much of south jersey and delaware. the counties bordering the delaware bay and the atlantic ocean. we're talking the potential is there over the next 36 hours for tropical storm force winds. winds over 40 miles per hour. let's talk little before the about some of the steering mechanisms. you can see hermine moving through the carolinas right now. but off to the north a building area of high pressure that will kind of block the system and lock it into place off of the jersey shore for several days. that's why it will be a long duration event and major problems with beach erosion and coastal flooding. look at the spaghetti plots. taking it out to sea but look how many of the models do loop for several days off

meteorologist scott williams here with your first forecast at 11:00. scott, any news for people heading to the beach? >> it's going to be dangerous situation stay out of the water. the jersey shore, dawn, will take the brunt of the storm and the latest 11:00 o'clock advisory just in. take a look at the intensity and the speed it really slows down right off the jersey shore for much of the upcoming holiday weekend so you can see by sunday morning, 8am, 65 miles per hour storm. moving toward 8:00 p.m. on sunday 70 miles per hour storm then ramping up to a hurricane again sunday night into monday evening. 75-mile per hour winds still by tuesday 8:00 p.m. we're talking about a 70-mile per hour storm. so a long duration event several of the model even try and make it curve back toward the shore so that is something that we'll have to watch. so the latest particulars 50 miles an hour storm moving kind of rapidly right now through the carolinas. northeast dawn at 22 miles per hour and as we zoom in, you can see the concern here for the coastal counties into th

our chris o'connell found some people preparing down the shore, but we start with scott williams tracking the path. >> hi there, iain. >>> of course, new information just came in from the national hurricane center. it's keeping hermine at a category one hurricane maximum sustained winds still at 80 miles per hour and still about 40-miles away from making landfall as a category one hurricane. it will be the first hurricane to make landfall in florida since wilma back in 2005. the pressure it's holding steady at about 984 millibars but, of course, you can see those rain bands heavy rain even tornado threat continuing there in florida. for our area, take look at this. we have tropical storm watches that have already been posted out ahead of the storm this basically means the potential is there for winds gusting over 40 miles per hour in the delaware beaches and all along the shore as we move toward the holiday weekend. so a danger concern across our area. as far as what's happening right now you can see that center of circulation right now continuing to approach the big bend area of florida

but let's start with meteorologist scott williams for the latest path of hermine. ott. >> hi there, dawn. of course, continuing to follow what's happening with hermine as it churns through sections of the carolinas. still will be major impactful event along the jersey shore. in the days to come. but right now, battering the outerbanks of north philadelphia. 50 miles an hour storm. movement to the northeast at 20 miles per hour. pressure 9595 millibars. take look at the concern the counties highlighted in orange that includes the coastal counties also the counties bordering the delaware bay for tropical storm warnings. that means winds in the next 36 hours could gust over 40 miles per hour. that will be a concern for power outages, beach erosion and also rough surf. take look at the official path from the national hurricane center. you can see it picks up speed around cape hatteras but watch what happens by the upcoming weekend. it wants to sit, spin, stall and intensify. we could be talking about a hurricane early next week. off the coast of the jersey shore. so tak

but we start tonight with fox 29 meteorologist scott williams tracking the impact of the storm. scott, this is shaping up to be a very serious event for those down at the shore. >> yeah it really is, chris. new information in at 5:00 o'clock. maximum sustained winds at 50 miles per hour picked someone forward speed moving to the northeast at 20 miles per hour but tropical storm watches have now been upgraded to tropical storm warnings for parts of our area. it's been a beautiful day across the philadelphia area, down the shore even. but take look at this wall of water. moving through the carolinas right now. just to the east of charlotte, west of charleston moving toward raleigh the outerbanks. that's the mess headed in our direct take look at the counties highlighted here in orange. ocean southern burlington, atlantic, cape may, cumberland, salem moving into all of delaware tropical storm warnings. so that means within the next 36 to 48 hours those locations could see tropical storm force winds over 40 miles per hour. so major impacts down the shore. a long duration event and al

scott williams is tracking this extreme heat for us. scott?the high temperature today. we'll likely hit 96 degrees tomorrow. tomorrow's record is in jeopardy at 97 as well. so while we focus in on ultimate doppler out ahead of a cold front winds will stay pretty much out of the west southwest. the humidity will stay high and also feels like temperatures tomorrow approaching the triple digits. we have a warm front just to the north a couple of showers off to the west. and then here's the cold front that will bring relief. saturday night into sunday lowering that humidity and dropping those temperatures but we'll zoom in a little closer. dry for most of the area. but off to the west, just south of harrisburg, we're looking at some showers and storms. some of this activity could move toward lancaster, berks county, even the lehigh valley and the poconos overnight. in fact as we watch the clock, you can see we're tracking it moving close to berks county the lehigh valley the poconos overnight early tomorrow morning at 4:00 a.m. there might be some

let's head over to meteorologist scott williams with a look at who will be hit hardest. scott?awn and iain. florida's problem right now will become ours for part of the up coming holiday weekend. its name hermine a category one hurricane. look at the center of circulation right now mack mum sustained winds are at 75 miles per hour. if it makes landfall as her cane the first hurricane to do so since wilma back in 2005 moving toward apalachicola for landfall later on tonight. hurricane warnings posted around the big bend area of florida. you can see maximum sustained winds 75 miles per hour movement to the north northeast now at 14 miles per hour and that press pressure continues to drop. but for our area, take look. we're talking about tropical storm watches that have been posted for down the shore.

here's scott williams now with check what's on your radar nig night. scott. >> hi there, iain. to talk about. of course, august will go down as the hottest in philadelphia's history, but the heat wave is coming to an end because a front is moving through. clouds some scattered showers across the area for tonight, even some thunderstorms down in maryland. so that front will continue moving through overnight with rainfall chances and then again tomorrow so have the rain gear the umbrellas for that thursday morning commute. you can see some areas of potentially heavy rainfall 5:30 moving toward the area around 8:00 a.m. as well as that front continues to kind of move through so tomorrow it will be cloudy an little unsettled. speaking of unsettle the take look what's happening in the gulf of mexico. of course, we have tropical storm hermine. it's pick up some intensity. it could actually make landfall thursday night into friday morning around the panhandle as a category one hurricane. then it will weaken a bit as it moves no georgia and the carolinas but them take look at the track
