we are live at the scottsdale stadium. training home of the giants. >> reporter: good morning. yes in about ten minutes we will see about 40 or 50 players come running out of the clubhouse on to the field taking this first full work out here in scottsdale. a sunny day, a little breezy, as you said only 25 will make the big club and there you can see all of the media that's in -- waiting for the presentation of the first full team work out of the spring, it's the giants, the world series giants. everybody is concerned. distraction factors, hangover of the world series like there was after the 2010 season. i think what you have 21 of the 25 returners from last year's world series championship team. i think they know what has to be done here. there will be a lot of opportunities for some of the younger guys to pick up like two or three positions. they are still looking for a back up utility player. a guy who can play a lot of different positions, they want a man who can play the 4th or 5th out field position and maybe one per

i'm laurence scott coming to you live from scottsdale stadium, the spring training home of the world champions san francisco giants. there was rain a lot of the day yesterday. chilly weather here too in arizona. the sun is trying to come up today. it's almost like when giants arrived in detroit for games three and four of world series. it's that chilly here in arizona. they'll get a workout in today. what you are looking at behind me is tarp on the field because yesterday it was raining providing a perfect opportunity for a great rainy day activity photo day. take a look. it's an annual spring training tradition where flashbulbs pop and giants players dress up in full uniform posing for what will be used all season long around the ballpark and beyond. if looking good is about feeling good, the giants feel great taking their photos as the defending champs. >> definitely fun to look back and remember what we did last year and remember how special it was but i think it all signifies the beginning of a new season. photo day is the beginning of a new year. we're excited and looking forwar

golf course towards scottsdale. and they've got snow on that. tell you i'm from arizona, born and raised. never seen snow sticking on the ground in scottsdale, which is north of phoenix. very incredible shot to see this. this storm is going to eject out in towards parts of the plains tonight. by the time tomorrow morning comes, it will be here right around parts of colorado, but very heavy snow falling all day tomorrow across kansas and nebraska and parts of missouri and in toward iowa. i got to tell you, we desperately need moisture here. this is a drought monitor. you see the dark colors. this is the worst drought we have and it's across nebraska, parts of north dakota and kansas. look where the bulk of the snow will fall, it's that western kansas, western parts of nebraska and this is nothing but beneficial. it's all farmland out there. they desperately need it. in the short-term, certainly problematic with getting around on the roads. but not a ton of people out here. any moisture we can get here is really great news. >> bill: almost like mo
