bad news, it is bringing foul weather right along the eastern seaboards here. and the other thing is, cold temperatures are going to be surging in behind this. first across western portions of the great lakes. some areas in wisconsin, about 15 centimeters has been reported in the past 24 hours. once this works its way east, though, it's surging cold arctic air with it. winnipeg, minus 23 for your high, chicago, minus 7, and things are staying here on the cold side. out ahead of it, relatively warm. new york 13, atlanta, 12. by tuesday, drops right off, nearly a 10-degree drop going into wednesday. so any snow that is on the ground if you want a white christmas, good news it's going to be there. doesn't look like it's going to be melting off in the near future. let's talk about eastern asia. sea effect snowfall, some areas here 20 to 40 centimeters has been reporting that. easily you can double that the next 24 hours. pacific coastline of japan is going to be staying dry, same thing with korea, northern china, china peninsula will be dry, but chilly with below-a

i want to show you here towards the western seaboards of norway, photos coming autoof that area, theea getting all turned up and some of that blowing snow and this does look like it's going to be the case across much of the northern half of europe through the next 48 hours. across parts of scotland, we're going to be seeing about three to five centimeters of snowfall, but some areas could see up to about 20 centimeters, really making for treacherous traveling conditions. if you plan on flying out of northern europe, check in ahead of time on your flights to make sure they are not delayed or cancelled because of this storm system. rain showers in london with a high of 7. paris 7, as well. if you're in the mediterranean, well, you're missing out on all the weather. actually, after the cut-off low we were talking about earlier this week, it is clearing up and you've been seeing fairly decent weather in response to that. let's talk about what's going on in the americas, though, with a storm system, another severe winter storm coming across the great lakes today and up there towards ontar

gene, you're right and if you want to travel to the united states at least don't go to the eastern seaboards right now or if you do go, be ready for some likely delays and cancellations at the airports, because the eye of this has widespread freezing rain impacts all the way from portions of texas, extending off towards the northeast, and in some areas around missouri, over towards arkansas and kentucky, we could be seeing about a half a centimeter of ice accumulation so just making not only for airport delays but also just treacherous driving conditions out here with this storm system, and just north of that freezing line we're also looking at some fairly heavy snowfall in this big band of weather, up to about 15 to 25 centimeters could be accumulated in a few areas out here so definitely slow down the roads and bundle up. once this starts to push off toward the northeast we have this high pressure coming in from the north and that ice storm very well could be knocking out some power out here and if you have your generators, make sure they're set up correctly and stay warm if the power goes

the western periphery we'll see warmer weather move in towards the weekend, much of the eastern seaboard. really east of the mississippi river temperatures will warm up a little bit above average. things will be changing. we have another storm system coming in behind this. right now oklahoma city, high 15 by sunday, a little above average. atlanta up to 13. even chicago above the freezing mark. on friday it was just minus 4 for you there. things absolutely bitterly cold. by monday into tuesday expect a real big change here. by new year's eve, if you want to be outside i would suggest bundling up. there will be a big blast of arctic air coming in. in europe this storm system is spinning around the med ter rainian, pushing towards italy. you the severe weather advisories in place. higher elevations towards the alpine regions, up to 50 centimeters of snowfall expected out there. rain up to 125 millimeters and some of the other elevations. you have a lot of rough weather with the storm system. it's going to continue to move off here towards the east. supported by the upper level jet and then

it's taking up most of the eastern seaboard, not with just snow but heavy rain from south of washington, d.c. all the way down into north florida, just to the west of jacksonville. but in the colder air, we're seeing snow. around philadelphia, new york city, back through pennsylvania, up towards upstate new york where they've had plenty of lake-effect snow the past couple of days. then back all the way over to southern new england and to boston. and that's the direction the storm is headed in for tonight and tomorrow. we still have some heavy bands of snow to go around the new york city area until about midnight. then we're going to see icing just north of new york city and snow continues to push northward through upstate new york and new england. boston will be getting snow then. your snow will continue until about 6:00 a.m. then the storm lifts to the north. but still some more snow for parts of maine. could see up to a foot and a half of snow there before the storm comes to an end on sunday. and look at this. by the time this storm ends, this is how much snow will be on the ground, s

an area of low pressure off of the gulf coast up the eastern seaboard as we track into this week. right now, we have a few lake-effect snow showers across buffalo toward cera cues. so, if you are traveling along i-81 or 90, take it easy on the roadways but in the gulf coast we have an area of low pressure that's going to gain strength as we track into tomorrow afternoon and evening. it's going to make its way up i-95. it's all rain because temperatures are actually quite mild for this time of the year. we are ending the year as we head towards january. typically, this would be snow. but with this system out of the southeast, well, and temperatures around the 40s and 50s, tomorrow into sunday, it will be all rain, and it could be a slow go across atlanta, especially saturday afternoon into sunday as that storm climbs up the east coast toward washington, d.c., it will cool things down a little bit between saturday and sunday as it brings the rain in. not a single cloud in the sky across the southwest with red flag warnings in effect. across los angeles, low relative humidity so be c
