. >> we now want to bring in sean keenan.s a freelance journalist for the new york times who interviewed the suspect for his college newspaper in 2015. i want to thank you for joining us. and can you just let us in on what the circumstances were? i know this was nearly a decade ago now, but you didn't meet him. what were you interviewing him about and what was he like? >> yeah. >> um, thank you for having me, paula. >> uh, i mean, this began like any other story, which was just, you know, somebody whispers in my ear, i'm having difficulty navigating, you know, whatever government system of maybe in this case, it was students reaching out saying, we're having trouble getting our veterans affairs benefits that we are owed through the gi bill. and admittedly, you know, ten years later, i don't fully remember how i got connected to shamsud-din jabbar. i believe it may have been through the georgia state's student government association. um, but we just discussed what it was like for him acclimating to civilian life and to college
