. >> joining me is sean spicer, communications director for the republican national committee. sean, thanks so much for coming in or for coming on today. let's take your position about the why not extend the bush tax cut for the $250,000 and less. >> well, i think jen just tried to talk about why they were doing it and it's actually interesting after a really poor jobs report last week, which followed on the heels of a dismal one from the month before, they want to now go out and raise taxes. so i say a couple things. first, the joint committee on taxation has said there are 840,000 businesses that will be affected if we raise these taxes. so the folks that trying to go out there and keep america humming, raise -- or hire people, the backbone of the u.s. economy, they want to go out and raise taxes on it. second, the interesting thing that i thought was funny about jen's point is they want to raise taxes so that they can spend more money. so not only do they want to hurt the economy and hurt people who are trying to create jobs, they want to take that and continue to rack up the

brad woodhouse, sean spicer. as always it is a pleasure to have you on the show. >>> all right, folks. if you want more proof that t taxing the most successful earners will backfire a new report says wealthy maryland residents may be moving out due to recent tax hikes. robert frank joins us with the details. good evening. >> if you want to look at what happens when you tax the wealthy, consider the state of maryland. that state imposed a millionaire tax in 2007 for those making more than a million a year. the rate went to 6.25%. the goal, of course, was to help balance the budget and avoid painful budget cuts. what happened? lo and behold a new study from change maryland said 31,000 residents left maryland during the millionaire tax. most went to virginia and took 390 million in tax revenues with them. in total, maryland lost $1.7 billion in tax revenue during this period. the state still has a billion dollar budget deficit, even after all the taxes. larry hogan of change maryland told me people of maryland have

sean spicer, do you want to talk about using the f-word or whether it's something to celebrate or nothether you talk about the language or the activity in terms of leader pelosi had a party that night. the tweets that came out from the democratic national committee and the president to some extent. i'm not sure what they are celebrating this has been one of the biggest inhibitors to job creation and drags on the economy as people say i don't know if i can afford to hire more people with obamacare. you have families concerned that this is going to limit their choices, put doctors or the government between doctors and patients. i don't know why they are celebrating. the big question is are they willing to campaign on it? i don't think many democrats are eager to campaign on it. it polls poorly for the reason i outlined. it's bad for the economy, bad for jobs and frankly bad for health care. it limits the choices that people will have. so i'm not sure what they are celebrating or why they are. >> this is dan. i'm obviously sympathetic to sean's perspective here. >> i hear you are. >> he
