gunshots on the campus of seattle pacific university in seattle. a student about 4,000 students on that campus. four people wounded. two of them said to be seriously. they have been taken to medical faciliti facilities. the shooter disarmed in custody of police. disarmed interestingly enough apparently staff. the shooter said to have had a shotgun. one eyewitness we talked to heard two shots fired in a classroom near where she was. and then a space of about two minutes and then further shots. apparently staff members were able to disarm this shooter while the shooter was said to be reloading. a tweet sent out by the police department in seattle is suggesting that students can gather on gwinn commons and grief counselors available for students and staff. that message for students and staff of the college. again, who the shooter is, motive, we do not know. the suspect is said to be in custody. not sure what the condition of that suspect is. campus area's still obviously all cordoned off. we are waiting to hear from local authorities and do anticipate

and the city of seattle is taking the push to raise the wage even further.ease the hourly minimum wage to $15 an hour and to phase it in over several years. once it's full fi phased in, seattle will have the highest minimum wage many the nation. but echoing many fiscal conservatives who oppose raising the federal minimum wage, a group of seattle franchise owners has filed a lawsuit to stop seattle's wage increase from going into effect. and their argument is a novel one. they claim that raising the minimum wage violates their constitutional rights. joining me now to discuss this is mayor ed murray of seattle, who successfully led the effort to make $15 an hour the highest minimum wage in the country in his city. mayor, mr. mayor, thanks for being here. and i want to start by asking you how you actually managed to get this through. this was actually a unanimous city council vote. what argument did you make in pushing for this wage increase? >> well, you know, income ine equal is a major issue in this nation. it's destroying the middle class. we felt we needed

the impact of seattle's new minimum wage is expected to be substantial.orkers earn less than $15 an hour. but as exciting as the headlines are, read on to the fine print. the law does not take effect until april 1st of next year, 2015. the original date of implementation was meant to be january 1st but after a contentious meeting last week, the council agreed to delay implementation until april. at that point, every worker will get at least a dollar an hour raise. that's right. the full minimum wage hike is not immediate. instead, depending on the size of the business and benefits provided to employees, the phase-in time could take anywhere from three to seven years. and how the wage hike will be implemented or phased in is a big source of contention for several different groups. franchisee business owners are already vowing to file a lawsuit against the, quote, unfair and discriminatory seattle minimum wage plan, since they would need to implement the new minimum wage within three years. a business group called forward seattle said it will file a charter
