general tom mcinerney, terrorism expert, sebastian gorka, former commercial pilot, j.t. tresannii. sebastian, if it were one of the terrorist groups wouldn't they be bragging about it? bragging and destruction seem to go hand this in hand with the terrorist groups. >> if you look at jihadi groups they're very different from political terrorists from the 20th century. groups like the ira would almost immediately claim responsibility but what we've seen with al qaeda or even isis there is kind of a pregnant pause. there is a delay very often until they actually accept responsibility. we don't exactly know why. it could be a question of measuring the response and getting to a point of crescendo where they can have the mass effect of accepting that responsibility after so many people want to know who is behind it. so, this, if this was a terrorist attack, it is not unusual for jihadi groups to wait some time until they claim responsibility. deirdre: sebastian, sadly that does make sense. i'm glad you brought this up. lt. general, egypt will have primary responsibility for conducting the

sebastian gorka. we're trying to find out what happened to those 66 people.know for america's counterterror threat here at home? >> we need to understand that counterterrorism, effective counterterrorism is a constant game of trying to outwit and out imagine the bad guys. 15 yeergeds -- years ago, it was box cutters and mace on the 9/11 attack that was the methodology, attacking the cockpit. since then, we've had the liquid bomb plot out of europe that was foiled. we've had the somali case, the laptop explosive device. we had the printer cartridge plot, if you remember, the al qaeda printer cartridge plot, and then we've had this alleged attack which seems to be linked to the earlier plane that went down, the russian airliner that went down in egypt. that was, some say, isis said, was done with a soda can. a device hidden in a soda can. it's always about outwitting them, what are they going to use next, can we sift those methodologies out of the system to keep our people safe. >> we know they don't need the simultaneous attack and altogether. are we in a race

sebastian gorka is the major general, distinguished chair of military theory and the author of defeating jihad. colonel schafer i want to start with you. based on what we know at this moment, you heard trace's report, and base on what we know about the activity of that airplane, that it zigzagged, took a couple of sharp turns before there was detection of it plunging in altitude, what can you conclude from that? >> something catastrophic happened nap's the only thing we know for sure. the pattern of the flight, where it went and looking at the flight that a russian airliner was brought down under a similar circumstance tells me that the likelihood is that there was insider threat. somewhere along this line someone penetrated security, got physical access to the airplane and was able to put a device on it. the device coming out of the russian aircraft was one that was altitude detonated. i think this had to be timed being that it made several stops. we have to look across the board. if the policies of every airport that we fly to by the fact that someone, some radical is going to find a w
