sec. psaki: let me give you an update on what is heaven so far. we have thus far received confirmation that about 600 have departed. we have been providing regular updates to all of you on evacuations. if we go back to august 14, fewer than 6000 afghanistan -- americans were in afghanistan. at the time, we knew that there could be an option. one, the people who had registered had already departed or that they had not registered. i understand you are asking for the exact number, but we are trying to determine exactly how many. where calling and texting through our lists and will have a concrete number for you as soon as possible. if they are long-term residents of afghanistan with american passports, the vast majority, we are still trying to determine if they want to leave or not. in some instances, that is because they have many family members there, but they have a range of reasons and we have been working with them to assess that. >> one other question on afghanistan. the deadline is tom

sec. levine: thank you, pleasure to be here. frances: wonderful to have you here when we need to understand so much more. there was a change in guidance this week from cdc resulting from new science about the delta virus including masking for people who are vaccinated. what is the science behind that change? asst. sec. levine: we know and have been discussing for months that the delta variant is different. the delta variant has been shown to be more transmissible. it is at least twice as contagious as previous forms of covid-19 we have seen. approximately two months ago, the delta variant was 1% or 2% of the percentage of covid-19 cases we were seeing in the united states. now it is more than 80% of the cases we are seeing. so, because of this more contagious variant, cdc has changed its guidance, in terms of masking. it is recommending if you live in an area with moderate to high spread, community spread of covid-19, that when you're in public, you wear a mask. frances: so that is the bro

sec. austin: i am going to speak briefly and turn it over to the chairman for operational updates. let me start by saying that we remain laser focus right now on the international airport in kabul. we are focused on doing everything that we can to continue evacuating american allies, and afghans, who have worked alongside us. also, other courageous afghans are at special risk. we are prioritizing three key concerns. first, the safety and security of our people and the people that we are trying to evacuate. the chairman will brief you that the file elements of military forces can you to flow into kabul, with about 4500 and place as we speak. we are trained and equipped to defend ourselves and our operations. there is been no hostile interactions with the taliban. our lines of communications with the 10 balance -- taliban commanders are open as they should be. my second focus is maintaining security at the airport itself. in concert with forces of our allies, our troops have set up defensive

if the sec says you are all securities and will be regulated, what happens next? is a big question. even going back to chair gensler 's successor, the sec has come out and set a lot of these tokens are likely securities. they have gone through and brought dozens of enforcement. they have sued firms and individuals for listing and trading these coins. what we have not seen thus far is a comprehensive framework. we have not seen the sec come out and say across the board, look, this is specifically what this bucket is going to entail. they rely on this 1940's supreme court test that was laid out. what is a security and what is not. it is kind of left up to the general public and investors and people listing these securities, which some of them are and others are not, to determine whether they fall into that bucket. what we are seeing from chair gensler is him saying a lot of these things are securities and are subject to sec rules. matt: and there is a difference. this is a massive universe of coin. i do not know how many there are , but at least 6000. there is this

what is it the sec is saying?e the changes that chinese companies listed in the united states need to be aware of? julie: the sec is expanding recent requirements that they had made for the companies that are looking to list in terms of greater disclosure in china. they are expanding this to the whole universe of u.s.-listed chinese companies. this is in effect for the likes of alibaba and baidu. they wish for the risks to b's clip -- to be disclosed in the companies' annual reports. much like the companies looking to list, they would have to disclose the risks they face on the various policy changes in china, and the risks their listing stages might also face, given that many of them use a vie structure. mark: how much will this impact chinese firms, and how much of it is priced already? julie: it depends. the ones that are looking to list, they've got a lot of work to do with bankers and lawyers in terms of amending their filings or making new filings and really beefing up the disclosures of the risks that they
