however from the secret service standpoint, i mean, you know, trying to push blame upon the secret service for any type of delay is really nonsensical. secret service can take any protectee to any place in the world at any moment in time. provide the level of security. why because that is what they do every single day. they show up every day in that protective mode. they do it. they don't need time to prepare, so the coordination was most likely between the d. a s office and the nypd. ideally you wouldn't want a arraignment on a friday. you know? should there be large crowds, you know that made transcend into any type of civil unrest. you don't want that bleeding into the weekend. you want to be able to be prepared earlier in the week. you have a law enforcement all the law enforcement stakeholders coordinated and able to address any type of issue that rises now to that point, nypd is focused around the courthouse, but they have a remit citywide and you know, there could be incidents that happened outside of trump tower on. you know, monday evening, there could be things that happen over y

on the secret service front, secret service is so loathe to testify in criminal cases. i went and -- i watched the prosecution in the bill clinton investigation and they came in to give their presentation to the attorney general of why they shouldn't have to testify in the monica lewinsky investigation. it was really moving and the like but here, when you're dealing with the former president, i think there may be a little bit less of that, and a need to get that testimony and then, second, with respect to this other thing about trump being in the center of the document scandal, his defense has been i didn't know anything about this, i've been out of the loop and so on, and the testimony for -- the reports yesterday of the testimony suggest that donald trump was central to the scheme, that he was the orchestrater -- the obstructer in chief and obstruction is really important in this investigation because it is not just about the fact he stole these highly sensitive documents, it is about what he did when he was confronted with that and sending his lawyer out to potential

s marshals, secret service and nypd are ongoing. let's bring in cnn law enforcement analyst and former secret service agent jonathan wackrow. good to see you again, jonathan. i just want to point of view. first of all, especially just, you know, from your experience if you are or were one of trump's secret service agents. what would you how would you be prepared preparing right now? well, listen, i mean the preparations by the secret service, you know, for one, the pending indictment. now we know that the arrest will occur on tuesday has been ongoing for a while, but it's really important in that preparation. what the role of the secret services and their role and remit on tuesday is a little bit different than we normally see with the agency. typically we see the secret service acting as the lead coordinating entity in terms of putting together a security plan. we see that time and time again with things such as the political events, um things around the president, you know, uh um state of the union, etcetera. but here we're seeing

typically, we see the secret service in a lead role. for tuesday's event, the nypd in the new york state court officers are actually taking the lead role, the secret service will be focusing primarily on just the physical protection of the former president. so the nypd is handling the entire perimeter of the courthouse as well as the city at large while the court officers will be dealing with the internal security of the courthouse again, all of this is very highly coordinated with the secret service. but it's not being directed or dictated by the secret service. and then we come to tuesday. we come to the day that the secret service will be escorting the former president to a lower manhattan to do his business in front of the court, and for the secret service agents there, primarily , we're going to be responsible for his entry and exit into that courthouse and allowing him to do the business before the court. well making sure that the environment is safe to apply probably more additional assets in terms of personnel to make sure that
