we'll begin with eye witness news reporter sefan kim at the >> reporter: sandra, it was a chaotic day here. inside that liquor store two men were attacked. one was fatally stabbed and one was lit on fire. it started when the suspect slashed the neighbor in the face and it ended when cops opened fire on him down the street. shots fired by the nypd in astoria, queens. with officers responding with weapons drawn. it was a dramatic end for a massive man hunt for 23-year-old james dillon. it started at 11:20 when dillon slashed his 39-year-old neighbor in the face and neck. then just after 3:00 p.m. dillon enters this liquor store and gets into an argument with a 61-year-old man inside. 55-year-old owner of the store tries to break it up and kicks him out. dillon comes back fatally then lights the man on the fire. >> he would defend someone. that's george. he's the type of guy. >> reporter: just after 5:00 p.m. cops got a call of a burglary on progress on 42nd street. it was dillon and he was fleeing. two officer confronted him at his home on 36th street. >> the officers demanded the suspe
