this is coming from the town of seffner where crews are working to safely turn down, as you can see now, what's left of that house. it was thursday that a sinkhole opened up, killing 37-year-old jeff bush as he slept in his bed. then as a crane started to tear down the house, there was a small, really important development in this story. some of the family treasures were able to be saved, among them, the family bible, photo album, a jewelry box, and a pink teddy bear. for just a moment, this was something the family could celebrate. this morning, though, it's back to reality. as you see that crane there at work again. crews still trying to determine too if the house is safe enough to get anything else out at this point. don't think so. george howell is there now. george, when did they start tearing this thing down? >> reporter: christi, they started 30 minutes ago. the officials here described it as an emotional process for them. you can bet it's moim femotiona this family. just standing here, you feel like you're at the site of a memorial, a place where a man died. you can see what's h

john zarrella is on the ground there in seffner, florida. we know the house is now condemned.e homeless. what's next for them? >> reporter: well, you know, brooke, we were talking in fact just a little bit ago, i was talking to norman wicker, the father-in-law, and he was in the house at the time and he said that people have been reaching out to them all day today. they do have a place to stay. they have been offered a home that they can stay in for the next couple of months. and so they are happy, certainly, about that. they have also been told that it is going to be some time before anyone can get into the house, the concern, of course, is that the ground is so unsafe and that the sinkhole perhaps is expanding. norman wick wears teer was tell they think it may be expanding to the house next door. >> oh, no. >> reporter: yeah, and you can probably get a good look at it to the right, the blue house there is the house which is so hard to believe that there is a sinkhole under there. the bedrooms are on the back side of the house, the two back bedrooms swallowed up by the sinkho

we'll go to seffner, florida near tampa for the very latest this morning. >> reporter: good morning.right now investigators are having a tough time getting inside the home. so far they've been unable to figure out what caused the scene right out of a horror movie. the frantic 911 call came late thursday night. >> okay. and what happened to the house? >> um, the bedroom floor just collapsed and my brother-in-law is in there. he's underneath the house. >> reporter: a man had been in his bed inside this home near tampa. the next moment, he was gone. swallowed by a sinkhole about 30 feet wide and more than 20 feet deep. >> it's unreal. i don't believe it's real. >> reporter: the victim identified by family members as 36-year-old jeff bush, a landscaper. >> a great guy. he kept to himself. there was times where he was out of work and he peddled his bike all day long to get a job. he did what he could for somebody else. >> reporter: this time others did what they could for him. his brother, jeremy, was inside the house, heard the crash, and jumped in the hole to rescue jeff. >> and i could
