here's meteorologist amelia segal. what do you say?> it's a tricky storm system to nail down how much rain and snow we'll see. what i can tell you for sure -- we are looking at rain or snow beginning tomorrow evening, later in the evening, and then continuing throughout the day on saturday. so dry conditions across the area all day today, and most of tomorrow. especially through the early evening as we get into the later evening hours between 7:00 and 10:00 p.m. this is when rain and maybe a little snow starts to push into the area. talking about not just one but two storm systems. the first storm system impacts us later tomorrow evening throughout the day on saturday. the second storm system is going to impact us very late sunday night, and then throughout the day on monday. temperatures right now are in the 30s and 40s. 39 in ghaithersberg. 36 ma nassies. 45 in washington. had 1 in fredericks and leesburg living the sunshine out there. partly to mostly sunny throughout the rest of the afternoon hours. highs in the low 40s to mid-40s.

segal, why is sitting down too long bad for you? >> i really love this study because it's really important not to do at least 30 to 60 minutes at the gym. all day long it decreases your risk of depression, it decreases your risk of infections, stroke, heart disease and certain kinds of cancer like colon. so get moving all day long. >> if you're sitting for an hour, you want to make sure you get up at least two to three minutes. the rest of the show will be standing like this, and the way this would work is when you stand and you're moving around, you help your circulation, but when you're actually sitting, your insulin may not work. those receptors that work on the muscle, they're not going to work. the atrophy is an issue and that's why moving around for just two or three minutes is absolutely the key. we know that if you sit for a prolon prolonged period, risk of heart disease, certain kind of cancers. just because you work out doesn't mean you can sit for a long period of time. even for three minutes, you can reduce the risk of d

let's go to storm team 4 meteorologt amelia segal. she's tracking it all for us. >> most of the area under a winter weather advisory. that includes the d.c. metro region. this just in from the national weather service. that means we're looking at snow to start accumulating very early tomorrow morning and continue at times. potentially rain mixing in through out the day tomorrow and into tomorrow night. here is the latest satellite and radar image. this is our system ohio indiana, illinois all seeing the activity, evh iowa where they're seeing a little snow. temperatures here supporting rain as the system moves into the area during the late afternoon or very early evening hours, as early as 4:00 or 5:00 p.m. temperatures in the upper 40s at that point. as we head into the overnight hours and the sun goes down and colder air moves into the area, these numbers here are the temperatures. notice how they start to fall. by 1:00 a.m. montgomery county frederick county howard county we could start to see snow started to accumulate for areas n

. >> storm team 4 meteorologist amelia segal is out in the elements. how is it looking now? >> reporter: doreen outside of hutchison elementary in herndon, virginia it's cold and slushing. no freezing occurring and of course the snow was heavy here around the early afternoon hours. for the most part, though temperatures here stayed right around or just above that freezing point so commuting around the area early this afternoon wasn't too big of an issue. you can see the temperature here outside of the school reporting a temperature of 35 degrees, most likely right around 33 to 35 at that point. and the students had school today, but all after-school activities were canceled. now, as we work our way into the evening and overnight hours, this storm is gone but the concern will be the re-freeze overnight. area roads here are just fine but it's the sidewalks that could be an issue. as you can see here, we're looking at these kind of slushy conditions. overnight, as temperatures drop to below freezing this will become a sheet of ice. so students walking to school tomorrow morning

. >> let's go straight to storm team 4 meteorologist amelia segal and the weather scene. anythings are about to change for the worse on us. >> exactly right. rain and snow to move into the area not tonight but tomorrow evening between 7:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. first here's the current temperatures. we're a good ten degrees warmer than this time yesterday. washington coming in at 48 degrees, storm team 4 radar dry right now and it remains dry tonight and for a good portion of the day tomorrow but it's this system that's moving through the gulf that will impact our area tomorrow evening and during the day on saturday. its arrival time on future weather at 7:00 p.m. the pink is rain and snow, the green is rain the numbers, the temperatures you can see as rain and snow moves into the area temperatures largely stay above 32 degrees. so tomorrow evening roads remain wet, not necessarily icy. now, when does the system leave? i'll let you know in about ten minutes. >>> virginia governor terry mcauliffe is back at work today after being released from the hospital. he tweeted pictur
