now you can switch over to sentinel radar. we'll take you back in time to six hours ago. this storm complex was building in ohio and as that complex moved through ohio, i was reading reports of what was happening behind this line and there are numerous reports, 60, 70, 80 mile-per-hour wind. some of these 80 mile-per-hour winds were actually measured, not estimated and again this is a classic complex. we've talked about this. it puts down a lot of very high wind and it typically moves from the northwest to the southeast. it basically follows along temperature contours in the upper levels of the atmosphere. to be perfectly honest, it looked like at 6:00, 6:30 that the brunt was going to be heading more towards charlottesville, more towards interstate 64 and stay mostly south of 66, but that, of course, not the case as we know now. it kind of got over into west virginia and then it just made more of pan east to northeast movement. so the package of the very heavy winds and rain had moved through. there is a flash flood warning back out to the west. i want to get to that rea

i want to show you sentinel hour. this is only the last hour. look at how much real estate this has covered. right now all that yellow are active thunderstorm warnings and most of them including frederick county, loudoun county, quo year county, prince william county and back -- fauquier county, prince william county and back out to the west along 81. front royal is in the warning as well. just about all of this goes until 10:30. a couple warnings will be in effect until 10 if i evening, but it's such a large line of -- 10:15, but it's such a large line of these showers moving through, they're issuing these warnings ahead of the line. very heavy rain, possibility of up to nickel size hail, but the wind is the story. if we get some wind reports, we'll pass them along. we could have the wind gusting 60, 70, miles per hour it. does appear in the last hour or so some of that real high wind has called down a bit, but could reenergize. we'll continue to watch this very closely. i should mention this, too. we had a tornado warning well to the northwest

we start with sentinel radar.wer north and east of baltimore this side of the bay, but it is really small. we did have a couple showers trying to come through, those have all dissipated, let me show you, there has been a lot of rain down to the south, flooding rains, in the south and southeast, last several days, look at the rain coming up through the carolinas, and up into the southern section of virginia. then, deeper moisture, pooling down and collecting and kind of on the march in our direction. the thought is, later on this evening, and overnight tonight, some of that will get here, in the form of showers thunderstorms, by tomorrow morning, some of that could be lingering around, and see some fairly heavy rain in spots, then do it all over gain tomorrow and tomorrow afternoon with more showers and thunderer storms. we don't expect flooding rain or anything like that. in some of these showers and storms, next couple days, and the next 24 hours, 87 down in the city, shower and thunderstorms dry, a few more at 9

today the "orlando sentinel" reported on the statistical infrequence of voter fraud in the state, whichemember, is the whole reason why rick scott claims he needs to purge the voter rolls ahead of this year's presidential election. in the "orlando sentinel," the quote is, notwithstanding the concerns of scott and republican legislators, state records show that voter fraud simply hasn't been a problem for the past decade. one longtime county election supervisor told the paper that fraud simply isn't much of an issue. quote, you are more likely to walk off your office and get hit by a bolt of lightning. late last week, the civil rights division of the justice department told florida to stop purging voters off its registration rolls, saying the purge appeared to violate the voting rights act as well as the national voter registration act. that letter was sent to the state of florida on thursday of last week. the justice department gave the state until today to respond to that letter and today governor rick scott's administration did respond. they are not agreeing to the justice department'

we'll switch over to sentinel so you can see down to our south that this is beginning to fill in, nothing tear my heavy at this point. what we're -- terribly heavy at this point. what we're kind of paying attention to is the fact it's a south wind, humidity will come up and there's been some very heavy rain across the carolinas, across alabama and georgia and florida. we are knowing at least most of us will get a healthy dose of rain tomorrow. hoping won't become flash flooding because we've had a number of weeks to dry out a bit. you can see what we're seeing down to our south and west. alabama got hit hard. we're kind of concerned there's another squall line coming through this tonight. this is moving very quickly and it's likely taking down some trees and adding to their flooding woes where parts of that state got up to 14 inches of rain in the last 48 hours. we saw some supports of 28 inches of rain in western portions of pensacola. you can see what we're talking about as we look at just the last 12 hours, very heavy rain down to the southeast, an area that really needed it. some of t

of deep tropical moisture coming up from the south and we know this by looking at radar, not our sentineladar live here, you can see a couple showers here and there around charlottesville getting closer here, over the last hour moving south to north. not a lot in our region we will keep an eye on that and see if it develops as we put everything in motion, you can see the clouds and then begin to see what is coming up from the south. this dropped 13 inches of rain over the weekend on parts of the southeast, desperate for rain. this kind of rain really runs off notice how that is curling up in our direction, we will watch that moisturementing up from the care lies, -- moisture coming up from the care lianas, as those two systems get -- carolinas, as those two systems get together, showers and tomorrows very mild. 72 degrees. off and on, showers and storms, any of them could have heavy rain, deep tropical moisture coming up from the south that temperature of 82 degrees. keep them in the forecast, 8:00 a.m., by noon, 81 with showers and maybe still a few showers and storms to chase tomorrow e

let me jump you over to sentinel radar. we'll show you where those are.includes a lot of the same areas and goes for about another 10 minutes. this right up along 95 where we had that heavy rain until 11:30. that is parts of mont, howard, prince george's county and into baltimore until 11:30. i don't think that will get extended. certainly the very heavy rain along that corridor as you can see as we've shown you this, the estimates from doppler of what may have fallen tonight. it's pretty significant, 1 1/2 to 3 inches of rain just from today's storms. that's why we saw so many problems in this area with streams and creeks spilling out of their banks and roads generally very difficult to get through because of the water and the ponding on those roadways. as we watch our satellite and radar in motion the last three hours, watch how everything is moving away. you can see there was indeed a lot of heavy activity coming across the eastern shore through the hampton road area into the beaches, but we're winding down now as you look west. it's only going to be a
