we talked about the knp fire and southern sierra around the sequoia national park. and some of that smoke still coming in, especially for inland areas. where we have the change with the fog moving in this morning, we are seeing just enough of an ocean breeze to help clear out the air there. but it's still hazy for inland areas. through the smoke model forecast, it does show that the light blue indicates a hazy conditions that we're seeing over parts of the north bay inland east bay and south bay. if you're able to smell it, you may be sensitive to the smoke, you may want to limit your time outside. this is what we'll see tomorrow. the ocean breeze backs off just a bit. but this is all across the region and especially over the tahoe area. we are seeing some worse air quality there. our temperatures today headed toward the mid to upper 80s. this is coming out of the upper 90s we had yesterday. and some upper 80s for danville, pleasanton and 91 for antioch today. a lot cooler for the coastline. san francisco will see highs in the upper 60s, low 70s. 88 for sonoma today

it's burning in sequoia national park and on the indian reservation.ing over a week ago and has spread wildly. fire crews hoping to avoid a repeat of last year when thousands of sequoia trees were lost in an especially bad fire season. the biggest tree in the world, which is affectionately called general sherman, was partially wrapped in this protective foil earlier on this week as flames threatened the area around it. i want to talk more about this. let's go straight to karen maginnis standing by at the cnn world weather center. if you could give us an update, particularly for viewers watching now in california? >> yes. it has been devastating because the fire seasons now start earlier, the fires are more intense, and it consumes so much land. one of them is the dixie fire that we've been watching since the middle of july. they still are uncertain as to what may have caused it. but across the west, primarily, 73 large, active fires that extend all the way into the central rockies. for the most part, it is the western states that have been hit so hard.
