sergio begin -- quintana joins us now with the latest. >> reporter: chp officers had pan ram -- panorama blocked off since 1:00 this afternoon because there was other rockslide that covered up the highway. and this is just one of a handful of problems that has been created by this weather. in cloverdale, tree came down over highway 128, shutting down traffic and also took out a powerline, which knocked out electricity for 365 sonoma county customers. back here in marin county, the highway was shut down. that's because a portion of the hillside collapsed over the road, bringing rock, mud, and trees down. road crews made quick work of clearing the debris with by a front-end loader. this is a road usually used by locals. >> two routes from there, and then the back route that you can take. that's a long way around. and so get on it quickly. the people get -- caltrans gets there quick and take care of it as fast as they can. >> reporter: now, we watched as the loader cleared out the bulk of the slide in an hour, but crews took more time cleaning up the road. now back here live. i don't know i

we recently spoke with sergio, our neighbor and good friend, about his desire to move this project along. he and his family's businesses have been an integral part of the evolution of our neighborhood for many years, and we're happy to help support this next incremental change with the goal of increasing the areas innovative culture and emerging livability. with all changes come challenges, and we hope that this first project under the new pdr zoning can rise to those challenges and become a prototype of how to make a project that is appropriately pdr-ish. we will like to highlight two opportunities for the project that we think can still be achieved going forward. first is about open space, which you have heard a little bit about. the project will remove one of the few wind-protected sunny outdoor gathering spaces in the neighborhood. the access cafe's back garden, and not replace it. this type of open space is rare in our district, and we hope that the new project might work to create a similar quality space in front of the site by helping to convert the currently wind-swept hardscape

sergio quintana with the story. >> reporter: adding to public health for two reasons. there are rising levels of obesity in the united states. second, a sharp increase in the number of children diagnosed with autism. researchers looked at more than 1,000 children between 2 and 5 years old and their mothers. they found mothers who were obese or had hyper tension or diabetes were 60% more likely to have autistic children than healthy mothers. findings should not be considered a conclusive explanation of the sharp rise in the number of children being diagnosed with autism. it does add support to concerns doctors have long had about mothers and their weight during pregnancy in a different study last month researchers found the number of children being diagnosed with the disorder has risen to 1 in 88. compared to 1 in 110 a few years ago. part of that is because doctors are more an waeufrt symptoms. this study linked other developmental disorders in children to obese pregnant mothers this report was published in the journal of pediatrics. the lead researcher says the report

sergio quintana continues our team coverage from the bay bridge where drivers are facing a slick and slow commute. >> reporter: the good news is that for now, it seems the rain has subsided so have the winds. overnight, the rains were intense enough to bring down a tree in the oakland hills. that happened around 8:00 last night on glen court drive near arrowhead drive. the tree came down taking down powers line with it parts of the tree came to rest on a parked car no injuries were reported pg&e crews moved in quickly. throughout the rest of the bay, rains have made for a soggy and sometimes slick early morning commute you've been hearing traffic reports throughout the morning. even though it has subsided for now, where i am, of course it is still causing problems for drivers still slick conditions. there are also power outages that were reported throughout the bay area some in san francisco and some in concord. right now pg&e crews in concord are still working to restore power to about 720 customers. they expect all those customers should have their power restored between 7 a.m. thi
