sergio quintana is live. reporter: the parade is in full swing. you can see right there this is the line of people along market street, watching the parade just beyond. that line of people right there is five people deep. there are even some people on their toes trying to get a look. no traditional chinese dragon was among the first to take to the streets at the head of the parade. we just wrapped up the year of the tagon, this parade celebrates the kickoff of the year of the snake. dance troops, marching bands and floats, among the 100 different participants, making it one of the biggest of its kind. people come from around the world to watch the event. i talked to a troupe who what in town for the birthday party and discovered the parade on their way back to the hotel. >> it's huge, we can't even get a ride home. we tried to bike ride. couldn't make it through. >> for the birthday you also wanted to see the chinese new year parade. >> i did. it was big, a big place. reporter: they are from dallas and tell me they don't have a chinese new year's

sergio quintana is live on market street where things are just kicking off. reporter: we are just minutes from the official start of the parade, and we are yards from where the whole parade comes together. you can see everybody lined up here to watch it as it starts. now, each year more than 100 groups come together to participate. among the stars are the floats, just before each parade they're lined up as they're staging -- at their staging area to make sure the details are in place. also a temporary gallery for people to snap pictures of the floats before they hilt the road. the san francisco chinese lunar new year parade is one of the largest celebrations in the world. it's a speck tack cal, specially for those who have never seen it before. >> what's the plan? >> watch the parade, and then eat some long noodles. reporter: now, one of my favorite parts of the parade are the marching bands. this is the bay area boy scouts drum and bugle corps warming up to join the parade. they're amongst several marching bands from bay area organizations and schools will b

sergio quintana is live with those details. >> the bus involved in this was actually driven off. the number 18 bus happened to be turning the corner. you can see right there, those are the flares that mark just about the area where the victim was hit by the bus. now, i did speak very briefly with the son-in-law of the victim. she is a 73-year-old woman who was hit. the son-in-law and his wife, the daughter of the victim, happened to be driving by and noticed lots of emergency vehicles here, and noticed the woman, the 73-year-old, who was pretty bloodied, and was surrounded by emergency crews, she was transported to san francisco general hospital. she is still alive. now, you can see there are still investigators from muni who are here on scene. i'm being told that they are still questioning the bus driver as is part of the standard procedure in these investigations and will be tested for being under the influence of drugs and alcohol, a standard part of the investigation. muni says they're still trying to piece together how this happened. reporting live, abc7 news. >> ama: a litt

sergio quintana is live with new details. reporter: well, san francisco police put out an advisory because they've linked two assaults to a similar suspect here on women in the mission. they're hoping that anyone who recognizes the suspect will call investigators with information. now, here are two sketches put out by the police. the one on the left is based on the description of a woman who was attacked two weeks ago. the one of the right is based on the description of a woman attacked just blocks away on january 6th. the most recent attack was february 2nd, around 1:00 a.m. here on bartlet street. the victim of that attack told police she passed a man on the sidewalk, and he suddenly began punching her. when she covered her face to protect herself, the man ran off. the first incident happened nearly a month earlier on 23rd 23rd and church street in that incident the victim sass the map lunged at her and threw her on the ground, straddled her and then began bashing her head into the sidewalk. she managed to scream for help a

sergio quintana was at the meeting. reporter: this is a pretty well attended meeting with a few hundred people from this area of oakland in attendance. the basic idea here is to lay out the basic steps how the consulting firm wants to get a hold on the industries crime problem. now, robert was ehrman can the chairman of the strategic policy partnership, went through a detailed power point presentation that lays out how the oakland police should operate. one big change would be cutting the city into five geographic areas and assigning a police captain to each area, and then assigning resources and responsibility to that captain to control crime in his area. was ehrman says it will help make the police department more responsive when there is crime. >> when this happens in oakland, you'll know who is the captain that has your area. and that captain will be available all the time. if you have concerns, that captain is going to know them. >> it's hard because you don't want to put up bars in your house and things like that.

sergio quintana has the story from walnut creek. >> he has played a clown and other roles. they charged him with preying on one young victim. they started the investigation in november. >> a female juvenile and the parents reported that and he was sending inappropriate text messages to the young female. a three mo long investigation revealed several crimes. >> he was charged with two misdemeanors and two felonies including child molestation. he was worked as an acting instructor and taught improv classes. he was fired months ago when they learned he was under investigating. parents were shocked to learn about the charges. >> as a teacher, that is one of the main goals is to trust by children. >> he was a coach here at the cheer academy in south san francisco and he as swim teacher in san bruno. he wasn't worked in either place for years and they have not mentioned to possible crimes in connection on peninsula but they are looking for more information from possible victims. he has posted bail. we found his car parked outside but no one ever answer the door. >> walnut creek p
