that's where we find sergio qui quintana. >> reporter: it was supposed to have coincided at the moment he was removed from life support. he was pronounced dead shortly thereafter. that's also the moment this case turned from an assault investigation into a homicide investigation. this gathering of friends at debose park is supposed to coincide with a decision by the family of brian hig in. >> while the family is in the hospital taking him off life support, we want to do something here in the neighborhood. >> reporter: higgins was found unconscious without any i.d. on him near church and debose sunday morning. he was identified thanks to a social media campaign launched by san francisco general hospital and the sheriff's department. initially they thought he suffered a medical episode but they have a couple of videos that show higgins may have been attack attacked. >> we can't get too specific what the video shows. there is evidence that this person was a victim of a crime and there is a suspect associated with that. >> reporter: outside rosenberg deli is a portrait of the 31-year-old.

abc7 news reporter sergio quintana is live in downtown napa. >> here is a look at all of the damage done >> when we got there, we uh-huh loft residents -- we saw a lot of residents too long around looking at the damage. they were focused on the corner. you can see that it has become the icon of the napa valley earthquake. all of the bricks came tumbling down. you can see the violent shaking this morning. some of the residents too long around told me they needed a break from cleaning up the mess at their own homes and they wanted to see downtown with their own eyes. at downtown joes we saw lots of residents come in for dinner. this was one of the only spots open. their crew had to clean up a pretty big mess. plenty of shattered glass and damaged dishes. they opened up for business by midday. i talked to one of the hosts hosts and they said they are on a limited menu because they are running out of food. >> we are running out of things because of the earthquake and stuff hitting the ground. we can't use that. because of how many people we have had today we have run out of certain items, bu

abc7 news reporter sergio quintana has details from the richmond police headquarters. >> shattered glass marks where richmond investigators say an off-duty walnut creek officer attacked a female driver with a bat. news that officer gregory thompson was arrested is a shock to this man. >> it doesn't seem like its him. it surprised me by him, especially laying a hand on a woman. >> he said thompson's parents used to live in this house next door, and he's been clearing it out to get it ready for sale. the neighbor heard the commotion that night and says richmond police arrived fast. >> just moments later the woman ran up the street yelling that he had attacked and chased her and the other woman. >> richmond police never found a second victim, but they did find thompson in his car. >> a witness described a male with a mask and a baseball bat walking to that vehicle and they later discovered the mask on the floorboard of the vehicle and the bat in the trunk of the car. >> walnut creek police say tom -- thompson is currently on paid administrative leave while they conduct an internal investiga

because abc 7 news reporter sergio quintana has more. >> what we have been doing is going through thehat we can so we can confirm the details we heard about so far. what i kind of want to go through is some of the information we do know according to the marin county sheriff's department. we understand that there was a 911 call that came in this morning. just before noon around 11:55. the call was there was an unconscious male at the home in tiburon. sheriff's deputies arrived at the home and at 5:30 they confirmed he was dead. they also confirmed at that point it was robin williams. we understand he was last seen alive at about 10:00 last night at his home. the coroner still has an ongoing investigation into this. but at this point they do suspect that he died by suicide, caused by as he released a message to see daughter, still my baby at 50 years old. robin williams died this morning, he has been fighting depression as of late. this is a tragic an
