so much what is it meant to you well i grew up watching sesame street and have continued watching it with both of my children and the thing that's amazing to me is how the characters endure how the show has evolved and it's continued to bring education not just of the basics of a.b.c.'s and numbers but also explaining harder grown up abstract issues to children in a way that they can understand that makes them feel less alone yeah and you're right i mean one of the things that's mocks the show is its way of tackling adult issues for a junior audience how do you think they were successful in getting this message across well if you take for example the recent introduction of carly the muppet whose mother is in rehab i think that it's so important particularly with the opioid crisis right now that sesame street is doing something to reduce the shame and stigma not just for those that are struggling with addiction but also for family members of people struggling with addiction this includes children it's very in line with what i do with my writing my book and the way in which i person
