seth: no question. the past couple of years has been extra ordinarily difficult for folks, more difficult for folks at the lower end of the income distribution. the only silver lining is that we see a differential in wage growth, and it has been highest at the lowest quintile. in that sense there is a bit of comfort, but i suspect for anyone who has lost their job in the pandemic, that is not any comfort. tom: i am looking at a middle-class flat on its back on the inflation basis. seth: unquestionably. in that regard, the retreat of oil prices, some of it on the news of the coordinated release of the strategic petroleum reserve, that has to help, but nowhere near making people feel good. the economy is growing rapidly, jobs are being created extraordinarily rapidly, but sentiment is that people are still feeling fairly hard done by. that is challenging when the macro feeling does not match the micro feeling. tom: thank you so much, seth carpenter. lisa, seth talked about what you mentioned earlier, conf

how big of a problem could this be for russia, seth? >> well, i think we know, erin, russia's biggest problem, or one of the biggest problems in ewe yan, in enter around kyiv, is logistics. it's a supply of fuel and weapons and ammunition. they had to put some of the depots across the border in russia, where they can get there by rail, in some cases by trucks. so what the ukrainians are now doing, if this is what they indeed did, is hitting the logistic weaknesses the russians have already suffered in the country, and i think what this shows is that this is a pretty savvy move if the ukrainians did this, to go after one of the most significant vulnerabilities we have seen with the russian military so far. >> i want to play more of the exclusive message we should tonight from the ukrainian commander in moariupol. he talks about -- it's a must hold city for them. he describes it as mountains of corpses. he says there are active street fights, street by fight, and the death toll is going to shock the world. here he is. >> the figures, in a

seth, am i overstating this case? are we overstating the implications a free speech absolutist potentially taking over a platform like twitter? >> not at all. not at all. i mean, look, the guy, he wants to see free speech flourish, he wants to see people who can disagree with each other. i think he kind of defined free speech being if you are allowed to say things to people that don't like you and don't want to hear what you have to say if you are allowed to do that anyway, even if you don't like it or want to hear it, that's free speech. twitter has been clamping down on that a lot. their mission is to promote a diverse viewpoint platform. they are talking about how they in their mission statement how they want to represent a diverse range of viewpoints how they not barriers to free expression. and in practice, i mean we see barriers all over the place. their ideology is baked into the terms of service. if you don't agree with what they have to say, you get shut down for hate speech. not that they have a problem with
