seth lemmon for cbs news, the white house. >> the white house did issue a written statement following director comey's firing and said the president wa source of the headlight. it turns out the headlights come from a study by wakefield research, a market research firm that surveyed 1000 people, and found that 11%, just over one in 10 people broke up over politics. but it turns out many of those surveyed weren't necessarily married. let's take a look at the question. it says, have you ever even once broken up with a significant other over political differences. there's no mention of divorce and no mention of numbers -- remind you the latest data comes from before president trump was elected. first off is this graphic from the cdc showing divorce rates have actually been going down across the country over the last decade. according to the national center for family and marriage research, the current divorce rate is set at 1.7%, well below 10%. but some may be divorcing more, people 50 and older. divorce rates have more than doubled since the 1990s among this group but that jump between
