the assistant director of the fbi, national analyst, operative seth young., i wonder if i can talk to you first. we talked before the break about how this is an international effort. the malaysians finally reaching out for hem asking 25 nations to examine satellite data. they got 11 nations searching on the water and in the air for signs of this plane. you have two tensions here kind of pulling that coalition apart, right? you have frustration with the malaysian government, the chinese sniping, the indians withdrawing their search and then you have sensitivities in this area of countries not wanting to reveal their capabilities. how good their radars are. how extensive their satellite coverage is. how much do those tensions pull apart that coalition and hamper the investigation, do you think? >> you know, you hit the nail on the head. a country like india is not going to want to give up its radar screens, show the resolution, the real-time capture of images. they don't want to do it. what they'll say is we'll take a look and we'll tell what you we find. if w

[ laughter ] i would say like when i see modelling -- photography -- it seems like often you guys have to go to like, very both glamorous locations, but then also very extreme locations. there's like pictures on the tundra where you guys are in swim suits. >> yeah. >> seth: or, like, with -- in the wild, in the jungle. is there -- have you guys had any sort of extreme shoot where you're like, "oh, this might not be the best thing i've ever done"? >> i mean -- i grew up in south africa, in namibia, so i went to south africa to

and i say we look so young. >> seth: yes.sic vampire movie because it's very much about the day to day of being vampires. >> it's like a documentary about vampires. [ laughter ] the ins and outs and kind of hygiene report. >> seth: well, it is. like very hard -- like getting blood is obviously a big part of it. but it's also like very -- just like being a couple. it's like, when you wake up it's like oh, my god, is it night time already? [ laughter ] >> it's a long haul. it has to keep going when you've been together for 500 years. you know. you know the thing. >> seth: yeah. it's very good for couples to watch this and go god, if they can be doing this great after 500 years -- [ laughter ] >> it's a date after date after date after date movie. >> seth: yes. and then you filmed a lot in detroit. >> we did. >> seth: which is like a really interesting place for a vampire movie to take place. >> that's where some vampires live. others live in tangier. i'm just telling you, i'm telling you the truth about it. >> seth: what's your young adult novel about it's called "don't throw pebbles." [ laughter ] it's just a guide. it's just like a bunch of kids who are throwing pebbles and some older people were like, hey you shouldn't do that. and they kind of don't listen to them, and they're throwing pebbles at each other. and finally they stop throwing pebbles. but during it there's just all kind of adventures. where they throw pebbles in different countries. [ laughter ] and, you know, on planes, or just walking around. >> seth: this doesn't seem as gripping to me as a hunger game type set up. you know what i mean? this seems a little looser than those. >> fred: you -- you didn't read it. see what i'm saying? seth: and you play a father in the film. it seems to me like you are not old enough to play a father. >> well, she's very young at the time, soth: and she's the nymphomaniac. >> she is the nymphomaniac. yeah, exactly. so, yeah, i play the father from the time she's 12 to about 18. so very formative years, but it's a very healthy, appropriate, lovely relationship. she trusts her father. she loves her father. but then, sadly, she suffers a tragedy with her father. she loses her father. and i think that is certainly the source of a lot of her pain and why she's trying to use sex as a way to fill the hole. >> seth: "nymphomaniac volume 1" is available now on demand. it will be in theaters starting march 21st. christian slater, everybody. we'll be right back with neil degrasse tyson.
