working with the city the past few weeks to try and consume some of the data that's a part of the data sf data repository and tell a story about urban growth. so, this is a mapping platform that allows you to not only visualize your data like you see here, but also ask questions of your data. and i'm pulling data from multiple data sources. here we have data from the city. we also have data from private data sources that read -- not going to mess with it. there's one of the variables now, the bottom you see there is median household income. we're pulling in all these different data sources, creating a beautiful visualization to tell a story at the neighborv level of how the city is growing. and some of the things you're seeing on the map here are a pipeline of information about both residential permits over the past decade or so, how has the city allocated permits throughout different neighborhoods in the city. and some of the other things you're seeing on the map is the approved businesses, the businesses are currently doing business in the city. one of the things we said once we started

currently available is sf parcel the assessor's application. you can go to the assessor's website and bring up a map of san francisco you can search by address and get information about any place in san francisco. you can search by address and find incidents of crime in san francisco in the last 90 days. we have [inaudible] which allows you to click on a map and get nchldz like your supervisor or who your supervisor is. the nearest public facility. and through the sf applications we support from the mayor's office of neighborhood services. you can drill down in the neighborhood and get where the newest hospital or police or fire station. >> we are positive about gis not only people access it in the office but from home because we use the internet. what we used to do was carry the large maps and it took a long time to find the information. >> it saves the city time and money. you are not taking up the time of a particular employee at the assessor's office. you might be doing things more efficient. >> they have it ready to go and say, this is wha

we have the sf energy map to help the folks learn l about solar. we're experiencing with group discounts through solar at work. regarding our climate program we have aggressive emissions program. we track the city's carbon and multiple programs. we are just about to release our climate action strategies that will talk about transportation and energy where we can see further reductions locally. i want to mention that our environment program is focused on lower emissions. recognizing our climate is changing we'll want to know what the long term and short term focuses are. the last program serve area is green building. the green building program helps with the assisting of the green standards. it provides innovative green pace program information and helps the city programs to get to the highest level of building standards. on this slide are 3 additional serve areas the traffic. we work to improve air quality by asking folks to walk or ride bikes. we can work with other agencies and this helps to make the city's fleet the greenest in the nation. we've

and by the way, it was worth noting in sf 40 there was a plan that called for 35 garden. we have 11 and they support 3 other. but the one is out of their philanthropy program. they provided for the nursery fund. this is not a nice garden it's essentially a plant museum. they provided in kind support and provided for a series of garden improvements. they're the folks doing the capital investment they garden. significantly and i actually have some hand out for you. they support the gardens youth education program. the garden is visited by over 10 though children a year and it includes 7 schools and 24 other public schools and development centers. and so i have for you supervisors a list of the schools that the botanical society works with at the garden. >> well, the study actually happened a little bit before my time i think it was a study based on both resident and non-resident fee which is not something that the department pursued. >> do we actually track whose visiting the garden. the garden was one of the institutions that never tracked tenants. so for both the numbers
