of the first things the technology companies did, because we do have a tech chamber of commerce of sf city here in san francisco, they led a national discussion on the web to join in the sandy hook promise that they personally were taking up this cause and using the web site to spread the information and word that sandy hook should never happen again and as they arrive on the scene of this national debate they are now turning their attention to the very cities that they are located in and realizing that in their home towns we've got this issue. but the technology companies are talking with each other, they are using that web site to have a national discussion so that's a great thing because more people who have the discussion and put in front of them kids whose lives need to be saved, families and safety, are going to be of great benefit of this. they are also part of the national effort with gabby gilford and mark kelly to, again, be part of those conversations and very difficult ones because many of them are company owners. they want to have those conversations with the nra individuals a

sf city has really been a driving force behind helping government think about new ways, new and improved ways maybe for some of you they're old ways now. but new and improved ways for government to reach users of our programs and services. and i want to say the last special thank you to the folks from apple-liscious. this thing is awesome. this past year, the trust for public land which is a national parks organization determined that san francisco, which has 4,000 acres of open space and over 220 parks, over 15% of the city's land is open space. the trust for public land said we have the best urban park system in america. and the challenge for us is making sure that all of our park users understand all of the wonderful things in our park system and know how to use our parks to tailor to their own specific experience. as diverse as this city is, there are hundreds if not thousands of different ways that people like to use and enjoy our parks. and in this app there is information about our parks, about our play grounds, about our ball fields, about our trails, about our community gardens,

sf travel is a great organization. we have done a lot of work with them at ricksha bag work and with triple a flag and banner and with a number of organizations in the city. like a couple of the museums and other organizations to get pvc out of the outdoor advertisementing environment and sf travel really helped convene this whole effort to come up with environmentally friendly alternative. there is a big press release coming out soon about triple a's efforts to provide new materials for outdoor advertising. sf travel really a great organization and they really understand that small business helps make san francisco a unique place to come. and supporting the neighborhoods and trying to promote the neighborhoods through their newly revamped visitor's center at the powell street station. near holiday plaza. they did a beautiful job. the architectural makeover and they are some great info graphics there and volunteers who are helping tourists and locals alike to find out more about the city. >> i would also like to add to that, sf travel is going to be introducing a new part of their website, which will be great for our commercial corridors. which is that t

city. the primary focus remains on st. luke's given it's the overflow facility for sf general and only acute care hospital south of market. other than the very pertinent questions from supervisor jane kim, we have not heard anything about inpatient psych beds as a necessity. this is a major problem. our member physicians at st. luke's who practice primary care there have expressed the need for psych services and they felt the void of the 32-bed in-patient psych unit when sutter close that had in 2007 -- '5 in violation of an attorney general agreement. meanwhile, sfgph has de-staffed another psych, 7 psych beds from sf general after going from 80 down to 40 about two years ago for the acute psych beds. we're very thankful to have the endorsement of the sf central labor council and various other community coalitions in regards to our mental health demands. and we've got those demands have been vetted by over 30 physicians, nurses, and other psychiatric practitioners. we question any assertion that sutter can't afford psych bed at st. luke's. our city can't afford the most profitable hospital operator to be providing inpati
