again, this is not unaccustomed and will allow for the sf mta to be held to the same level of scrutinyas other departments to come before the board during the budget season. i have to remind myself sometimes maybe my colleagues and the public reminds me that one of the roles of the board of supervisors is fiduciary responsibility. if were going to take it seriously, we need have a little more say so. the board of directors will continue to retain the charter duties and powers to oversee the mta's and to establish this budget. i acknowledge the public's desire to have a transportation department that's independent and apolitical but i associated the city-i also hear the crying for a need for further accountability and oversight. there have been attempts in the past to change the way your points were made to alter the foreign process or add additional layers of oversight that were burdensome. i believe that this proposal before you today is not overarching, or not overreaching or irrational but it brings a fair approach by increasing the board of supervisors engagement with the sf mta bo

i've a short presentation and will hand off to keith maddox, from sf mta in the middle of it he willm and bike the microphone back to me and will happy to hear your questions at the end. first of all, the sense of scale for the increase in the bike share system is something to really get our arms around as we begin this presentation. today, there are 700 bytes the cover five cities san francisco san jose in three cities along the peninsula redwood city, mountain view, and paulo alto. when expansion is coming whether 7000 bytes across our network which is approximately the size of city bike today. those city bike is itself expanding and growing beyond its bikes but this is a complete transformational change from the toe in the water pilot we been doing the last two years. the increase in scale should increase the utility of the program here in san francisco and any other cities that we service. there will be a change in terms of the total footprint of the system. like i mentioned, in san francisco san jose in three peninsula cities going for it week san francisco san jose three e. bay

mta conducted a pilot similar to not technology in one year reduce collisions by 50%. i want to thank the advocates who have the support of this legislation, including lot sf but by coalition the and vision zero coalition. i would also like to thank my staff, erika mae born, we saw this legislation through. now, what i'd like to mention here is that we are not including law enforcement officers at this point because there was some details to be worked out and i didn't want to start this process anymore for the rest of the fleets, but rest assured, i will be working with the-our city administrator google come up with airport in the next few months so we can move forward to include the law enforcement officers in this particular item. to follow legislation should it's critical we work towards our vision zero goals by changing our culture to smart and proven policies and to our language and how we speak about our goals. so, this is the reason i am making a motion for two minor amendment. you have a copy of that and that will be better aligned. these basically are minor language amendments, better align with our vision zero goals. so, on page 1 line 24, to reduce all traffic f
