there are international markets for sf-made products. our state has yet to recognize that. that is why they have not invested in opening up an international office. i keep nudging jerry to pay attention to this. we are already creating international presence with our locally made and designed products. there is a huge outpouring of appreciation from the market to see this. i have great interest in supporting businesses. i will be investing in their success. if they're successful, our city is going to be successful. if they are successful, the lawyers are coming. $1 million from the california energy commission state energy program through the local government commission for green finance assets. -- green finance sf. >> i'm with the department of the environment. this authorizes the department of the environment to accept and expand a grant in the amount of $1 million from the california state energy commission. essentially to assist the development of san francisco's development finance program. the funds will be used as a service reserve fund which would make financing more attractive, hopefully with a lower interest- rate, and more widely available to property owners to have deep retrofit opportunities. the funds will cover payment delinquencies for investors. the last time i appeared before this committee, i indicated we were trying to advance the projects and i'm pleased to report a first project is now underway. it's a $1.4 million energy upgrade in a multi-tenant commercial building in san francisco which includes lighting retrofit and a new solar photovoltaic systems. i hope this project will lead to other additional products -- and other additional projects and this will make it more att

everyone on this panel who runs for office at a young age, starts in the state legislature, starts sf- you want to give back. giving back to the public, what is the most rewarding thing about your job? >> it is the part of giving back. when i first got elected, all you can do is push and one day it might move. you might not even know it, but it did. undoubtedly, the place for you feel like to make the most impact is on a local level, working with constituents. i get calls very regularly. we do not have a staff in arkansas. we are limited in the view of the legislatures role in government. we do not have a paid staff, so i take all my calls directly on my cell phone. i because of the week from people who need help. sometimes it is permit applications, business is having trouble with work for services, or any of the other things politics deals with -- people trying to deal with a federal agency like disability or social security, having trouble, so it is very nice to be in a position where you can push a those smaller rocks and make the move a lot faster than you can on a policy perspec
