this is the mayor's office of housing website which you can reach through sfgov and that will be on the website no later than august 1st, which is on thursday. it's a great opportunity for us to expand what we have done previously with the down payment assistance program, and this is indeed an expansion of what the city has, has done to serve its residents, the city and the employees. at the same time we are doing this first responders program through the budget process led by supervisor farrell, this has been the first year of the housing trust fund program and there's been a variety of programs that have been funded with the housing trust fund passed by the voters. and this is one of the first that we are rolling out. we will continue to roll out other programs related to the housing trust fund as the year progresses. but again, just to summarize, this is the down payment assistance program. as supervisor farrell said, it's $100,000, it's a shared appreciation program. the funds roll back into a pot of money that will be used on an ongoing basis to help not just the first first respon

[gavel] thank you for coming ou today on this beautiful summer san francisco morning. it's a little windy so bear with us. i'm with the s fm t a. i'm so excited to have you here, to have these folks behind me here but most of all to have these vehicles here. as i think about why we are so excited to have these new vehicles hitting the streets of san francisco. the first new vehicles to hit the streets in six or seven years. it's not just that our riders will have a smoother nicer ride on vehicles that are cleaner and neater and easier to access. it's not just for the operators and the mechanics that will have vehicles that are easier to maintain, it's not just for the agencies to have increased security in the buses and better features from everything from the fuel to the light bulbs, what it's really about is when munis is working well, munis is such and important part of the city's economy that all city of

. >>> sfgov, there's a video again. i put this up so you don't have to look at my ugly mug. this project, the [speaker not understood], is for the construction of the infrastructure or an sbrn artificial field. it is specifically designed r an sbrn artificial field. it should be noted coincidentally perhaps in less than 24 hours from now issues with the toxic materials being used in infield fill such as this are being adjudicated in the superior court of the state of california. these hearings will touch upon the insufficiency and completeness of the rpd's negative declarations, the mitigation monitoring, and the reporting program as well as c-e-q-a issues regarding synthetic fields. in contrast to the reports provided by city field and the rpd, public health professionals have provided irrefutable evident to this commission. the rpd and the sponsors of this project, to show that the infill that is to be used in this project contains material that has been found by the state of california to be toxic and cancer causing. this is well posted. easily accessible information. add

. >> we did a whole session on how to hire an architect you can get that on line you go to sfgov. org on how to hire an architect and harvey and his people did a session on that. we don't want to devote too much to that today. one thing an architect brings to our project from the early stage on is a comprehensive knowledge of the code requirements, how to get a building permit, how to work in the planning system, what the costs might be. they work closely with contractors who can do general cost estimates. they can bring tremendous value to your project which will mean your expectations are reasonable and readily met or exceeded. you need an architect in the first 6 years when you are thinking about what we want to do. at some point during that period, you want to sit down with someone who's a real architect not just a friend but sit down and say, this is what i'm thinking about, what do you think? is this a reasonable project? what's the ballpark. >> i agree. >> thumb's up. >> okay. so there was a question saying, what point is it small enough to just hire a contractor to do the

. >> so, sfgov-tv, can we have the -- thank you. >>> [speaker not understood] aft 21 21, we represent the counselors, librarians and instructors of the college. and i want to thank the supervisors today for providing us this space and for your concern and your curiosity and especially for your vigilance. it's very important and we all thank you. i'll try to move quickly. i have a very brief presentation. in keeping with supervisor campos' concern about what it is we stand to lose, that's something we've really been looking at and thinking about. so, hopefully i can make this work. city college is -- and i don't need to tell you this, but sometimes we need to step back and just see it again -- an extremely valuable publicly owned resource that is in imminent danger at the moment. we are widely supported by the electorate, and yet we were denied our accreditation as of next year. as you've heard, it's not final, but we are in grave danger. denying our accreditation will effectively close the college. so, we're looking for everyone's help to help us save this essential public resource. w

so that's my hope, you know, that this book i wrote, this story gets out, we're on sfgov tv. somebody will say, i have a cable car house, nobody asked me. come take a look at it. because right now we're down to one or two maybe that are still around when we're talking about there used to be hundreds. >> essentially into a generation of tearing them down. no more construction. complete replacement. >> yeah. in the 1910, about 1913, 1914, they really started pushing to get rid of them. when that open block that sutro rented, right on the edge of the sunset, when that cleared out, it eliminated the visibility of carville. we talk about a whole block of car houses that were still there. when that gets replaced by apartment buildings, suddenly you have a car house here, one there. just where people haven't taken the time to tear it out or build a conventional home. in the 1920's or 1930's, things were booming house building wise out there. so if you have a little empty lot that has an old car house on it you'd be stupid not to build a stucco house there and make a quick buck. by t
