currently, our response to the report is due by august 30th and the sfmta is working with the mayor's office and respiratory -- transportation authority and supervisors to coordinate a response. the bottom line from our perspective is there is no new information, no red herrings. these are the issues we have tackled diligently from the beginning of the project and more or less, our position remains -- our position remains steadfast and unchanged. it focuses on the important benefits that will provide congestion relief, transportation efficiency, emissions reduction and job creation. we had a brief discussion about the report at the quarterly meeting. they are committed to ensuring that we are able to capitalize on a full funding grant granted by the end of this year. on a somber note, this weekend, as reports have indicated that there were a number of incidents in the debut this weekend and it adversely affected muni service. an operator on our call -- our 24-hour called to report the vehicle he was operating was blocked by police activity. as you know, the san francisco police depart

[applause] >> thank you so much for being here to present this lovely award. >> absolutely. >> thank you. the next item i need to brief you on is related to the board of supervisors who last year requested that management audits of each m.t.a. division be conducted. the first of these audits was related to our sustainable streets division, and i'd like to ask the director of the sustainable streets division to give you a quick briefing on the audit. vaughn? >> good afternoon. good afternoon, mr. chair, members of the board. as mr. ford has mentioned, a management audit of each of the sfmta divisions was requested by the board of supervisors in 2010. mr. ford and his office and also the city services auditor from the controllers selected sustainable streets as the first of the divisions to be audited. to be followed each year by another division within the agency. the audit set out to assess five areas. one, how well the division maintains the city and county of san francisco's traffic

[applause] ++ >> i am the deputy executive director for the sfmta. i am pleased to welcome you to the celebration of the completion of the california and power line cable car projects, which saw the california cable car line down for six months this year. in spring, the power lines were down for three different shut down -- shutdowns. the project was a comprehensive line upgrade. the project was a collaboration with department of public works and the san francisco public utilities commission, both of which made multiple improvements to the infrastructure of this street in coordination with cable car improvements. we are joined today by the dpw director and sfpuc general manager. the businesses and communities surrounding the cable car lines were real partners with us, of course. this required close coordination to keep clear the lines of communication, and we are pleased to be joined today by members of various merchants associations, neighborhood and civic groups, as well as downtown management organiza of these various entities has been critical to

this complements sfmta's recent batteries swap pilot project. i am going to skip over the third project listed, the san francisco integrated tdm project. next is the regional bike sharing project. this will deploy 1000 bikes at up to 100 stations along the peninsula corridor. half of those bicycles will be located in san francisco. the funds here are used, sfmta match, to the bay area climate change program. next is the department of the environment employer benefit out rich program. this will continue to average two communities. similar to emergency ride home, this has been supported since 2005. $125,000 program to in prop k funds to match. the department of the environment solar and electrical charging station project. that will provide access for a parking spots. this is one of the projects we are recommending partially funding. the project as submitted exceeded the air district cost effectiveness threshold. after working with staff, we were to the application to the maximum amount, $28,000, so that is what we're recommending. the department

i would like to say whatever happens in regards to the sfmta and the cab industry moving forward, i'd like to put in a good work for christiana. i'd like to see what she could do if freed from this idea that the cab industry should be enslaved here. >> next speaker, please? >> john hawn. herbert winer. >> good afternoon. i hope that the -- >> state your name for the record. >> john hawn, san francisco cab driver. and i hope that the board of directors would not take the suggestion that was suggested in a may 6 memo that regarding the allocation of credit card fees, that you simply endure the firestorm of the protest and the strikes and then just move on. i hope that you would consider some ideas and suggestions, one that i have would be that the rear seat payment terminals is causing the credit card fees to be superfluously high, 5%, and that removal of the credit card fee -- i mean, removal of the pims from the waiver requirement could conceivably bring our fees down to 3%. i've talked to a number of drivers who have said they'd go for that. i think that's much more driver friendly a

i think you are talking about providing sfmta -- prior to contract award full funding plan -- i think there are some other things. if you could expand on those. >> basically, this allocation is to allocate up to $57 million. right now, the mta has not concluded discussions with the contractor. based on the number of bids, there is a possibility that the number will be lower. we should note the next week or two. those funds will go back into prop k to be used on the product at a later time. it is a condition. we also thought it was a board to include the condition about insuring this ntp 1 and 2 are fully funded. there was a full funding plan for the project but not all have been allocated, largely because of the state issue. we think is important to show the project is fully funded and financially stable, moving into the time period when the sfmta is considered the full funding grant for the project. commissioner campos: i think it is important for the record, for folks to understand, there are a number of precautions being taken by staff to make sure this continues to run as smoothly

improvements to j-church light rail vehicle line service, and discussion with sfmta and the recreation and park department regarding the muni right-of-way in dolores park. supervisor wiener: very shortly after i took office, it may have been the first hearing that i called for, it was a hearing of what could be done to improve the reliability of the line. church runs through a significant portion of my district. a lot of people rely on it. certainly it is not the only with challenges, but there are many challenges that are unique. a presentation was made several months ago and there were many ideas about how to improve the line. the first idea was for the mta to present a brief update on what had happened over the last few months in terms of moving in that direction. second, to talk specifically about the right of way through the morris park. there is a section of land that is more or less controlled by the mta. we have had some challenges in the past in terms of coordination and communication between the mta and reckin park. i have a photograph for the overhead that will hopefully sho
