from sfmta. we have a presentation and if you don't mind we will get this up and running for you. >> please. >> again thank you supervisors for hearing our item today. we're very excited to bring this to you. we believe that the sfmta has done a very good job in terms of structuring a contract that we believe is in the breast interest of the city so i will begin with this slide. the contract is a not to exceed $65.4 million. we're recommending that autoreturn was selected as the highest rank proposer. we had three bidders in a competitive bid process. the initial term is five years with an option to extend for up to five years. the business model has changed. the current way we do business is based largely on volume and very dependent on volume for the contract to stay in business. we're switching that so now the contractor is paid a fix management fee for the two facilities and reimbursed a per tow charge and this is remitted to the mta and sets the flexibility and manage the contractor and cont

tim [inaudible] of sfmta is here and will give a overview the proposal. i'm hearing about san franciscos ideas and how the transportation authority and the office can support the effort. we are still at early stages there is great potential to incorporate new mobility to make the streets safeer and promote cycling [inaudible] with the bay area population expect to add 2 million people by 2040 we are working on transit expansion plans but we must make it easier for people to live without a car or drive the car less. we cant have another million cars in the bay -air roads. technology can help get us to our goal more quickly. on a less positive note, unfortunately with barts troubles over the past weeks we have seen the consequences of what happens when we wait too long to address the basic transportation infrastructure needs. bart is 45 years old and truly showing its age. at the same time it faces record demand and continued excollation in ridership. the recent electrical problems that are completely decimating barts fleet are just the most extreme example

it's for all sfmta non-revenue drivers, and it covers basic city driving skills. the goal is for employees to take this training, as john said, every two years, which will incorporate the urban driving safety video. we also have a remedial training program which is a classroom program which is for those drivers that supervises the necessary training which from exhibiting unsafe acts or practices, or points, each of the police or in the pool program and the pool program allows an agency to have an overview of those employees that may have had traffic points taken or added to their license so we give them remedial training before they could get behind the wheel of a muni non-revenue vehicle, and they also have the program, the telematics program that will give the agency the overview to see if employees are speeding, it's hard breaking those bad habits which we can also identify those employees and get them in there for remedial training. thank you. >> john, i'm sorry, maybe i was somehow dozing off or something, so these are for the non-buses? >> yes, correct. er >

first of all, on page 9 of our report, on march first, 2016, the sfmta responded that in addition to 155,000 that supervisor tang i want to emphasize, that is the information that they gave us. when supervisor yee asked that this item be continued, they then told us that there would be another, that it would be $355,000 so i want to clarify that the budget analyst was absolutely correct in the report that was submitted to the committee. so on that march first, as i say, they bumped that up to $375,000, which we think is correct, because they had not previously told us about the fact that there are costs to move the trains to the sites. and the over time. and so what does that result? >> that means that during the first year of the proposed new lease, sfmta will pay, $2 milli million. on page 10 of the report, advices that one operator training class was cancelled in the 2015, and that all of the remaining 13 classes in 2015, had to be reschedule or adjusted to fit the training facilities that were available. and when the operating training classes must be pushed to saturdays, the sfm
