gary chang, senior program manager with sfmta. sfmta has been one of the national leaders supporting sustainable zero emission revenue fleet. indeed, we are the largesti operation of the trolley fleet. thank you to the board support, sfmta has replaced over 90% of our older diesel fleet with cleaner and more efficient electric hybrid vehicles. for the last production of this hybrid order, sfmta incorporates the electric vehicle, the hybrid vehicles with a higher battery capacity that allows for the vehicle to travel significant distance on battery power alone. what that means is, that distance will be traveled strictly on battery and with the engines shut off. with the increased battery capacity that allows stm to run a test program. it will turn off and turn on the engines automatically. the item in front of you seeking for your approval is to hybrid contract number 4, that includes all the necessary equipment to be added onto the vehicle to enable this green zone program. there are also other changes we have incorporated during

once again, the grant as reported, sfmta and sfcta have been awarded $10.99 million. of that total, $5 million is being utilized by timma and will support the toll system design and implementation. $300,000 will support the piloting of an autonomous circulator shuttle on the island. at its june 29, timma meeting, we provided an update on grant award and are ready to move forward with utilization of of funds and are excited to that opportunity. related to that, staff will speak at the upcoming automated vehicle symposium scheduled for july 9-12. the annual symposium is organized by the national transportation research board and so hes yugs for unmanned vehicle systems international. on the project delivery front, as it relates to construction here, there are numerous construction projects that are just starting right now on yerba buena island. let's talk first about what was recently completed. as you all know, the efforts that we led the i-80 westbound on and off ramps is complete. also completed vista point. we're working to make the vista point facility permanent. s

supervisors to make it a violation to have a scooter share system without having a permit from the sfmta. that's now been through the process and that law goes into effect on june 4th. in the meantime, the sfmta needs to make changes to the transportation code to allow us to issue permits. that's a step i've been working closely are our board on to develop the legislation that sets in place t requirement for a scooter sharing program to be permitted by the mt and thereertain requirements that are inside that legislation about what the fee structure would be for scooters applying for permits, where scooters can be parked, what we would like to learn from them in their applications about their service area and how they would operate and how they'll educate their users about proper use. and then there's a third step which is for us to develop the actual permit application and permit requirements. and the director of transportation, who's the director of my agency, has the authority to make some further specifications beyond what's in the legislation. so where we are right now in the process

i can tellou not to shift the conversation away from the sfmta. i know the planning department has had some issues in the past where there's been some noticing that were missed based on deadlines, if it was internal or if it had to do with missing the deadlines, the publication based on the examiner. i think that we need to approach this conversation based on how we can expand noticing. i understand the arguments that supervisor peskin made about including this as a city that's a paper as a half. i think that's an important thing as well. i certainly want to see us have more options but i think what we are trying to do and i think supervisor ronen put this forward, we are trying to have more flexibility for the departments that are there. i don't think necessarily that expanding notification into more than one publication is going to limit people's ability to have access to that notification. so i would be for the original proposal amendment. i wouldn't necessarily want to constrict this so much. i like -- excuse me, deputy attorney gibner said in
