[laughter] and i looked at him from behind and i thought, this reminds me a little bit of mayor ed lee. i love the fact that you were so humble. i love the fact that you are so open and kind to people that you meet, even people who actually, in my district, gave you a very, very hard time, but always so gracious, a

i know sfmta and i have -- and they -- it is not a primary function of sfmta. it is just real frustrating -- and we're not talking about a whole lot of money today. of course, we will probably work on strategies to come up with more resources to mitigate impacts because we are putting people out of businesses a city. we have to care about that. that is very important that we change that. and so, i also know that we were not envisioning loans. how are we going to be responsible for putting somebody out of business and then asked them to pay back money loss of revenue that they did not cause? that is dysfunctional, is arbitrary to what we were talking about, and the whole purpose of putting these resources -- i don't know if people felt that we had this conversation in a chamber and we would just letting out hot air and letting out steam under going to come back with something that doesn't actually address what we want to do week later, how long are we going to play this back and forth? these are real businesses that are suffering at the hands of construction her

they will essentially echo everything that the sfmta director just said. before i go there, if you remember that slide that showed what happened in gilroy, it is very strange that having gone all the way down to gilroy, we saw someone make a u-turn heading north. and the fact is that it is the wrong alignment. it does not require any turning. is a tad bit shorter. and the reason they know that alignment -- you are not going to believe this, because they wanted to go from sacramento, to san francisco via merced and gilroy. obviously the southern alignment was 30 to 40 miles longer. now -- hang on a minute. this is really what i want to track your attention to. the alignment length, 42.9 miles , this alternative does not come. it actually terminates four and a half miles north. then the travel times, 47 minutes, it is a specific code. it says maximum 30 minutes. that pretty much -- let's see, yes, the grade separation. okay. the important thing is that the entire thing is 110 miles an hour. that means they do not have exclusive rights to the design and devel

today sfmta is discussing the safety of this street. 7 news reporter anser hassan is live at sfpd headquarters. good morning. >> reporter: good morning. sfmta will be holing an open house to discuss ways to improve security and safety at the taylor street intersection where this fatal accident happened. now the san francisco police officers association is also joining lawmakers advocating for installing traffic cameras around the city. california state assembly bill 342 would have allowed cameras to take pictures of license plates of drivers breaking the law. that bill failed last year, mainly over privacy concerns. according to sfmta speeding is the cause of 25% of fatal accidents here in san francisco. sunday's deadly accident is an example of that. police now believe the tesla driver was speeding as she drove through the intersection. police are preparing a warrant to review the car's camera footage. >> obviously there's going to be video cameras on that car at the time this event happened. if it shows the lights on the intersection,

sfmta has been participating in the lpsc program since 2017, has received many credits, and we enters into an m.o.u. to submit proceeds from the credits by 50%. the ordinance before you today would allow the sfpuc which would be selling the credits to exceed the $1 million threshold. >> there are a variety of safeguards that are embedded in the program. basically, the program is run by the -- it's overseen by the california air resources board. they're the ones that basically register all the people who might be purchasing the credits, so we know who the market and buyers are. the credits are done through the air resource board, which basically kind of serves the central bank. price data is publicly available, so we know what transactions are, where markets are going, have a sense of where to do it, and we're looking at other safeguards on the p.u.c. side in terms of structuring the bidding process to ensure that we get maximum value, and the bidding process will be overseen by the current planning group. as for the uses of the credit, the sfpuc plans to use a contract as it has done

i see both of you from the sfmta. thank you for coming here on this update, with regard to the light-rail vehicle procurement from siemens. the floor is yours. >> hello, good morning. thank you for having me. i was last here a couple months ago, where i think we made a good, collective decision to put the l.r.v.4 phase 2 funding on hold. we have since then taken a step back and are working in several areas to improve the vehicle. and i've asked to have a few minutes for the next several board meetings to keep this board up to date on our progress. i'm not hear to ask for any actions at this point. the vehicles are still not performing where we'd like them to be. but i am confident we will get to that point. and i think that through transparency and dialogue, it is my hope that i can share some of that confidence with you all. we do have some good news and i think so it's always good to start with the good news. starting yesterday, we were able to restore full service for the l.r.v.4s. we've been locking out the backdo

over the last four years sfmta has done a robust engagement process. super visor brown is 100% supportive. they commend m.t.a. on the outreach. these comments take advantage of the light traffic on octavia to produce more pedestrian safety to get to zero vision goals. during the years of temporary closures. m.t.a. worked in hayes valley neighborhood and with other business owners to work through the project. it was page fully slow. it is what it is. we have a good project before us today. it will improve live ability of the neighborhood, less honking, more bicycling. it is needed with the space east of take trisha's green. it is going to be developed soon. it is a high priority of supervisor brown. she would like to see this within the next one to two years. we will have the domlors in place. it will be a great opportunity to change this intersection to make it people oriented. they are low cost, flexible, easy. we think folks will be happy with this and wonderria it is different. people have lived there since it has been proxied. supervisor brown hope
