we are really excited to get going on that with our partners at the sfmta. we look forward to bringing back some thoughts and we appreciate your guidance on how we might administer these funds right away. i want to begin also about a report back on our annual self-help counties conference. i just returned from san diego where we met with the other that have voted to task ourselves to fund transportation improvements. there have been 30 years now of promises made and promises kept. we have been celebrating that anniversary with them together because they were one of the inaugural counties in 1989 that has sent sales taxes for transportation. seeing our first dollar flow the following year, our agency was really set up in 1990. we will be salivating more and telling you more about the work we have been doing collectively next january. i look forward to sharing all of that good experience with the public and continuing to gather input on what it is folks want to see what we should be planning on through our collective long range planning program. and what funds

yesterday, someone from sfmta called me and told me that i had no color scheme. i was stunned. i said yellow cab, and they told me, i'm not affiliated with yellow cab. we paid color scheme. it includes insurance money. they're supposed to provide us insurance. if not, it's a violation. it's not my fault. sfmta said someone called them yesterday and said you are no longer affiliated with yellow cab and no one notified me from yellow cab notified me until friday. yesterday, someone gave me one day short notice to change color scheme. unbelievable. i did my paperwork yesterday at 3:00 p.m. and -- [inaudible] >> i am paying payments and for me to allow me to drive my own taxi cab. it cost me $1700 to change paint and color scheme to go to the other company to upgrade my taxi cab. i am trying to pay my medallion payments every month. i'm sfmta's pedestrian program manager. i'm also the vision zero task force co-chair. i'm joined today by my colleagues from the police department. i'm going to spend a few moments giving context, before we answer the questions that commissioner haney has posed. we are always grateful for the opportunity to talk about traffic safety and what the city is doing to combat fatalities every day. so in 2014 it was this -- it was the board of supervisors who adopted vision zero. we were the second city in the nation to do so. it is our commitment to end traffic fatalities and to reduce severe injuries on our streets. at least 20 people are killed every year here in san francisco on our city streets. we know that there is a huge cost, not just in monetary value but also in emotional value. to everyone who deals with these fatalities, this line deals with what our emergency practitioners have to deal with, whether an e.m.t. at the scene, the police department responding to the call, or our trauma surgeons who see a person with a traffic fatality injury every 17 hours at s.f. ge

i am with sfmta office of innovation. i want to talk about some complementary actions that the mta board took recently earlier this month to amend division ii of the transportation code. the first thing that they did was to define shared mobility device service. that definition and part is mobility devices, device or ten or more people separately or together. the important component here is that we are looking at shared services not to regulate personally owned devices. this definition would incorporate the existing bike share and scooter share programs. the second major component was to establish concept authorizations so this is a way to prevent unregulated launches of services, create a clear path for companies that would like to test or deploying the city but on a limited basis. limited by the number of devices , the time that they are testing, or the geographic area that they would be operating. the most important parts of this is for us to collect information to understand if and how the city shall regulate a new mo
