and my push back is well, what about the people that work for sfmta? how do we make sure they have a right of first refusal when it comes to the housing that's being built on the property that's owned by sfmta? how do we make those connections? any job opportunities offered to recent college graduates at the sfmta. i'll pipe in and say that we of course have an internship program that is amazing at sfmta, truly a training-ground. many people who have gone through our internship program end up working at sfmta. and really people should be looking on our linkedin website and the city website. we post a diverse range of positions. it's important to retain and attract talent. >> if you google jobs with the sfmta, the jobs portal will come up. another position that just opened up just today is our transit ambassador program, which is a really fascinating job. it's for entry-level people, particularly san franciscans, who live in the southeastern neighborhoods to ride our school tripper services in order to help ensure that muni is civil. it's our alternative to having a police force ride muni. instead we train people in the community who understand the kids in their neighborhoods and can engage with riders in order to support civil behavior and that we all need to get to what we are getting to. >> th

we worked in collaboration with the sfmta and many community groups to create the low income discounts for towing, booting, and payment plans. i really want to thank the m.t.a. staff who are always open to being in dialog with us at the financial justice project and also community groups. i want to speak in support of the reduced towing fee for people struggling with homelessness. i think this is an important step in the right direction and we support it. probably one of the most important starts of my job is listening to people in community groups and residents about how these various penalties are hitting them and i just would like to share some of what i've heard. going from $236 to $100, having 15 days to put that money together, that will make a difference for folks. they'll have a longer amount of time to come up with a smaller amount of money. and we hear that coming up with $100 might as well be like coming up with a million dollars. we have to realize that people don't have this money. they're going to be scraping it together probably from community groups, their support netwo

for our next -- for a second agency that we wanted to look at was sfmta. we asked sfmta to allow more funding to build an effective equitable and sustainable transportation program for s.f. youth and students and make sure that s.f. youth and students are making it to school on time and not having overcrowded buses skipping stops. we have seen an inaccessibility to signing up for the free muni for youth program and youth across the city aren't getting the benefit of free muni. and we wahave held a town hall and we talked to many students that ride the 29 bus, and there have been many issues with the bus skipping stops, the bus being crowded, and the bus being late at times. this has been an issue for many years, considering the bus falls within 15 schools, a mall, and we also have a college and the b.a.r.t. station, as well. and it also passes through many diverse neighborhoods with many people coming in and out of the neighborhood and going to different places. so we believe this is a bus that needs to be focused on so that the improvements will be there
