finally, many of the sfmta vision zero quick build projects have been well received. can you talk about the evans street project? >> one of the things we did during covid was dramatically expand the rate of what we call quick build projects, which are fast-moving projects using simple and cheap materials in order to redesign streets and test out new ideas and see how they work, as well as get a lot of feedback from community before moving into a larger capital project that converts all of that plastic stuff into concrete and trees and, you know, curb extensions. what we have been finding is that our quick build safety projects are able to cut severe injury and fatalities between 25 and 75%, depending upon the location on the techniques that we use. so we are targeting streets that have the highest rate of traffic crashes, particularly injury crashes and fatalities. we focused on evans, which is really important connector for all modes of transportation between the bayview and the central neighborhoods of san francisco. also a street with a terrible track record of sev

we did attend sfmta meeting with the chief and the directors of mta and where think we are in a good place moving forward. the fire marshal has been the face of the autonomous vehicle reporting at the level of captains and bureau and then he's also been the main face of our street scape changes. hopefully he can reduce his bandwidth and he began work on addressing or lithium ion battery problem lurking and coming over the horizon. there are units because we did talk about it the arson unit recollect 19 structure fires under investigation, 25 vehicles, 21 outside fires under investigation in july. the airport division continues to make great strides. they are conducting a class in airport rescue fire fighting to try and build out their pool of new recruits, and they don't anticipate having to draft our younger members down to the airport as the practice in the past. they have an established happy workforce who is proud to be at the airport and i commend all the chiefs, particularly chief darcie for their work down there. we included the sfo, airport news letter and i'm always very ver

which is why i have directed the sfmta to take immediate action to prevent this from happening again. we will continue to invest in and prioritize improvement to help prevent anyone, especially our children from being hit injured or killed by a driver. oakland police are investigating 3 shootings that happened yesterday morning. 2 people died as a result of those shootings. the first one happening about one 30 on east 15th street and 20th avenue officers arrived on scene and they found a victim suffering from a gunshot wound. that person was taken to the hospital and they're listed in critical but stable condition tonight. the second shooting that happened before 03:00am near 17th street and san pablo avenue. that victim was found suffering from a gunshot wound but died at the scene. the 3rd shooting happened just before 06:00am on the 9200 block of e street. when officers arrived at the scene, they found a victim with a gunshot wound. that person died on scene. no arrests have been made any of these cases. family and friends of murder victims rallied outside the alameda county courth
