[applause] >> thank you. i am so glad to be here. there is a growing body of research that shows we can make the schools -- the streets safer, and one of the ways we can do that is reduced speeds. if all else fails and a collision results, this speed limit saves lives. i am pleased to be here and to continue to work with the rest of the city, the rest of the organizations, and to know that they have the support of the mta board in these very important initiatives. thank you. [applause] >> thank you, director. the mayor and supervisor mar mentioned that there's different city agencies working together to make this happen. i think they both mentioned the health department has been a very strong partner, and i want to work knowledge there great work. it is their research that i want to reiterate the exponential decline in the likelihood of serious injury or fatality for every 5 miles that you lower the speed limit. it is a powerful tool to ensure safety in the streets if in the

the second further resolve is the board of supervisors urges the sfmta and bart to negotiate the medology for the fiscal year with respect to the feeder agreement to determine the actual number of transfer trips between bart and muni and the amount of payment by bart to the sfmta. the two changes in this craft are that the board of supervisors recommends to the mta a retroactive amount based on the new medology developed for 2011. this allows the m.t.a. to receive payment from bart but urges m.t.a. to make sure there is an additional payment given to the agency for any amount left out under the existing medology. the final resolve is the board of supervisors intends to condition its approval of any future agreement for retroactive payment for 2010. this is to protect our rights and our riders with respect to any money that is owed. i make the motion. supervisor chiu: supervisor campos has made a motion to amend the resolution as proposed. seconded by supervisor farrell. there is there a representative from the m.t.a. here? i am wondering, could you comment on the amendments that have just

thank you for being here. 311 as well as department of public works, the whole sfmta organization, police department, board of supervisors, city administrator's office, working together, have produced an opportunity in a public-private relationship to hire these 12 individuals. we have done a pilot program and the results are stunningly positive. when you engage the public, when you engage the ridership of muni, engage people in the community and ask what they are most concerned about, public safety is always on their mind. along with the board supervisors, we work to create this idea that residents of san francisco, and what they are doing today is they are not only on the streets, but they are at those spots where we have had a history of activities that were negative, people hanging out. if a resident were not able to speak english and did not understand that they should not be isolated by themselves, you have extra eyes and ears in those areas, and that debt -- that resonated with people to get information not just on the arrival of their most needed muni lines but also just inquiries about where they
