want to acknowledge the great leadership of the vice chair of the board and now chair of the board of the sfmta who has been a staunch advocate for safety improvements in the city. with their approval, in 2012, we got to work with public works and planning and with public utilities and with the arts commission. all working together to design and build and implement this project. i think it is a great transformation of a city street and as mohammed said, is one of many that we have seen and will be seeing in the coming months and years. it is a great day for this neighborhood. for everybody who uses this street. whether they live here or travel through here, they walk or bike or take the bus or drive here. is a much better street and a great lesson for all of us on how to do things. we need to figure out how to do it a whole lot faster. i will acknowledge, we have heard from supervisor brown some concerns. this project is not perfect. we will continue as we do with every project to evaluate how it is performing at identify ways to make it even better. we will work with supervisor brown and the c

supervisor safai is preparing for the board of supervisors meeting, but i have a letter that i would like to read out loud. dear sfmta commissioners, over the past four years, the san francisco municipal transportation authority and various city departments have been meeting with housing and homeless advocates to adept to address specific needs and issues. i would like to encourage the conversation to continue and be part of any policy or creative solution. i have been contacted on a daily basis to complain about parking issues single-family hopes are the predominant form of homes. many have converted garages to living space and homes that used to have 4 to 5 people now have 10 to 12 residents, creating chronic parking shortages. we've been working with sfmta leadership to initiate a district-wide permit parking program. as a precursor to our residential parking permit program, today i ask that the fines are restricted behind the homes of my constituents living on de wolf street, who requested the city's help managing the use of the block by people living in recreational vehicles. the residents have complained about

board members as well. it's in reference to the contributions for employees that are military service members. i'm currently one year in the military and i have been employed with the city working for sfmta since august 17, 2015. since that time period i have taken 132 days of leave. and with the military rank and structure i'm an e8 or first sergeant and i am the top man in my unit, which requires me to be gone for an extended period of time. now i'm also -- i was also hurt while i was training, so right now i'm convalescing for my injury that i incurred in the line of duty. anyhow, when a service member is re-employed at their -- into their previous position, the pension contributions are to be made as if the service member had been continuously employed. i have not gotten those contributions added to my pension fund as of yet. also since i'm one of the miscellaneous retirement plans, the latest one, and so my understanding is that whenever i retire that out of the past 36 months the highest three or the highest month leads. so this law, by the way, is united... united service members' employment and re-employment act. so basically the period of time that i was gone for my annual compe
